You can be fooled no matter how smart you are, and just because you can't explain it, doesn't mean there isn't a natural explanation to it. No one would really expect this to happen. Also, if they did notice it would be embarrassing to say out of the blue "are you a different person?" especially if wrong. People are too self-conscious to risk being wrong about that sort of thing usually. Oops, I noticed a mistake I made. I said "It thinks it's funny"... I meant "I" there. :)

Is that Ricky Gervais at around 4 minutes?
By: vivacelife. on 29 Dec 08, 22:17:13
Hey everyone: did you see the split screen at around 3:04 (a smiley carton face)? I think it's a subliminal message, trying to make us think this is funny...

I agree, personality also has something to do with it too. Judging from the ways he talks and moves, the black dude seemed to be very self-confident and self-assuring. He trusted his "gut feeling" and expressed it explicitly. I bet the other subjects also noticed something fishy but they didn't voice it because it seems outrageous--what's the chance of encountering this in real life? I would not say it too if I was one of them.
By: vivacelife. on 29 Dec 08, 22:09:23
Yes, it has also been done in psychological research. Nothing new.
By: vivacelife. on 29 Dec 08, 22:00:25
It would work on me because I don't look directly at people on the street. But they sounded different, I would have spotted that. I think.
By: vivacelife. on 29 Dec 08, 21:59:05
Yes, the picture is part of the trick, I wonder what's on it.

This is nothing new. I've seen it done in the 80's on candid camera...
By: Screamo1818. on 20 Dec 08, 17:28:06
I think this worked because they got distracted by the picture... they saw a man on the picture and forgot about how the other dude looked like... i dunno... but it has something with the picture to do! I just know it :P

By: Bekll. on 15 Dec 08, 05:45:18
"because they could care less" You mean they couldn't care less. If they COULD care less, then why care at all? Why NOT go ahead and care less? See how illogical it sounds?
By: Bekll. on 15 Dec 08, 05:40:37
This is not so much about race, but about how people are. It think it's funny that the white people asked were too busy just giving directions, whereas the black man was trying to connect with him and willing to take him where he needed to go. Doing that he got a better look of him which is why he notices (at first, anyway) that after the painting he was talking to a different person.
