Well I think for the most part everyone's comparing this particular album to Illmatic and not careers. I'd agree that NaS is more commercial though. Ras Kass has stayed underground. I wont lie I just got into Kass but I know about NaS and his career for the most part has had its ups and downs, "I Am..." and "Nastrodamus" were garbage. Kass in my opinion has stayed true to the art but ive got to hear more of his old skool before i make a judgement. Any reccomendations?

Agreed. I think, at the time, Ras was a bit punchier with the similes, but Nas was less about wit and more about story-telling. Production-wise, well, sorry to say, while Ras's stuff is pretty good, when you stack up XP, Primo, Q-Tip, and Pete Rock... you'd have to be as bad as Malachi the Nutcracker to make those beats not shine. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Ras kept his drunk ass out of jail, and Priority hadn't fucked him so bad.
