Men in England have danced for hundreds (thousands?) of years like this in spring in the Cotswolds an area south of London, each town has its own distinctive dance. They have contests and try to out dance each other. Its called Morris dancing and started with fertility rites way back long ago, like the maypole. They also dance with scarves and bells, its fun, there might be some in your city that do it even.

Actually I've heard there is a big may day celebration in the SF area with lots of local teams. Try googling Berkely Morris or the White Rats, or checking one of the online morris dancing directories.

There are a few morris teams in Birmingham if you're interested. Google will show you... Otherwise, the Ironmen practice in Telford, which is only 40 minutes from Bormingham centre in a car!

Why would she need to go all the way to the USA to Morris dance??? It's an English tradition not American tradition and it's practised everywhere in rural England.

Well done. We get the whole dance, and we can hear the music - a bit low in volume, but there is no distortion.

Fun clip. Wish we had Morris Dancing in the San Francisco, CA USA area. Only get to see it at the yearly Dickens Faire in December. Great music too. Do women ever perform Morris dancing, or is just for men? Thanks for posting.
