Me playing... Posted by: cadaverr
Video duration: 153 seconds Me playing some rudiments and tricks. Just a short clip with bad quality (sorry for that!). And yeah, I'm really using traditional grip with my right hand instead of my left one (it just feels good to me). There is a good number of mistakes here and there! (sorry for that as well). p.s. Oh, my "name" is not "Cadaverr". Just an Youtube nickname (lol). Love the fashions in the audience I remember it well. How lucky were they to see the genius live. Wish I had been one of them.

it's rudimental stuff for sure. like in marching bands and drumlines, if you like that stuff you should try drumline if your school has it.

I'd recommend you to check the "buddy rich stick trick solo (FULL VERSION)" video I've uploaded as well (I'm sure that you'd LOVE it, heh). I know I do! That solo is totally, absolutely, immensely absurd. To think that someone could play like THIS and like THAT is astonishing. As a drummer, I have no words for Buddy other than WOW. Give the "buddy rich at the hague" solo a try as well (its almost equally INSANE). hehe.

You're welcome man! Thank you very much for the comment and for your enjoyment! I'm glad. Buddy definitely gets better every time you watch him. Mostly due to a better phrasing understanding (which comes with time). The man was a SAVANT. I've seen it all. All the drum fields (I'm an avid drum enthusiast) and I've NEVER seen a better drummer than Buddy Rich. He should be remembered along side Newton, Paganini, Mozart and Kant, for example. I've never seen this on DVD though! Unfortunately... :/

This is a truly amazing solo. Its funny... it somehow gets better everytime I watch it! Which is about 3-5 times a day! Thank you Cadaverr for posting this solo. Is this on a DVD? I really need a copy...

A true technician. There will never be another drummer like Buddy Rich. All of his moves are precise and deliberate. There is no wasted movement in Buddy's playing. All of his drums and cymbals are at the exact place they need to be. He plays with true passion and the love of music. Many drummers have alot of equipment and gimmicks. Buddy plays a basic 4 piece kit (5 at times) and has more creativity than those with more drums. Rudiments are the key to great drumming...and alot of practice !!

They seem to either be a form of triplets, or triple stroke rolls. I can't tell, he's going too fast, but there's definitely some sort of increment of three going on.

I've also seen thousands (literally) of other drummers but I always come back to witness this man performing. There is a magical touch in everything he plays that you just can't put a finger on. Its all over his playing man. Just awesome how he makes it all sound soo right.
By: cadaverr. on 20 Nov 08, 22:03:33
You're welcome. I don't know if its the same with you but whenever I witness Buddy's thoughtful drum compositions, every stroke, buzz and accent has an effect over me. Pretty much like if I were playing them myself. This is where the musical pleasure comes from. I just imagine myself doing all those beautifully musical accents all over the kit and every calculated move as if they were mine. Its all worthy. Genius. One of a kind.

Wow! Thanks for the complaiment, Cadaverr. Buddy incredible dynamics, cymbal elegants, blazing technique, and maticulious attention to details is what separates this drum wonder from the norm. I've heard and seen the current drum wonders of today, such as Thomas Lang and Virgil Dontati (who have incredible limb independency and technique) who play with great virtuosity, but the lack the musical elements that separates Buddy from them. Without the theme, or musical groove--it doesn't work for me.

perfection
By: Gretsche87. on 19 Nov 08, 01:47:11
What kind of strokes are those at 6:00? Are those buzzes - how does he do it to make it sound like that for your drummers out there.
