This is VERY easy to understand: people pay according to earned bracket. There are LESS people at the top brackets, hence the middle classes make up the bulk of the payers. If you have 100 people and only 2 are wealthy, 98 are not and ALL pay taxes, put together, the 98 will pay the most, even if the 2 individually are paying twice what the individual 98 are.

Actually, Mr. Istandby me, my comment was in response to a person who called Mr. Carlin a draft dodger of some sort who refused to do his service in Vietnam or something. Unfortunately, I am unable to find his comment, which was simply biographically erroneous, because Youtube does not allow you to do a search of comments. Not a problem when there is 50 or so but a real pain when there's 500. In addition, I recommend Harrington's short story, "Dr. Modesto" as a Carlin fan you would like it.

You forgot about time. Time passes, and quite often people change. Most people change quite a bit from age 20 to age 50. Its called growing up. He was discharged at age 20, and probably signed up around 18. So, its a cute theory you have... but lacks common sense. Bernstein auditioned for Aaron Copland while a young boy. Copland made some apparently great suggestions for him, and it's not hard to see the sublime influences. The composer of Billy the Kid, Rodeo, and Appalachian Spring obviously rubbed off on Bernstein. Of course Elmer was far more versatile, but this, his best work IMHO, evokes a Coplandian feel.

Brenner, Bronson, Coburn, McQueen; Robert Vaughn nailed his part, Horst Buchholz did a great job handling his Peacemaker for a German kid, and that character actor, Brad Dexter, died true to his character to the last: "Tell me what was it all for, Chris, gold? Silver? Yeah, gold, silver, more than you ever saw (or words to that affect). American folklore... tells us where we came from and who we are, or would be if we could. Thanks Cappy!
