I do understand why some scenes ware omitted. - Dramatization of killing a kid trying to get help - Obvious anti-Nixon scene at a time he was still alive - Mindless snow mobile scenes ... The hotel scene makes much more sense and this is the version I remember. Superman isn't clumsy so why would Clark trip himself towards a fire knowing he would come in contact with it in front of Lois.

It just goes to show. that the late great Christopher Reeve will always be the real Superman, And Gene Hackman & Margot Kidder are the best Lex Luthor & Lois Lane. But the new version with That stiff Kevin Spacey & that beanpole Kate Bosworth sucked ass. And as for Brandon Routh he carries the spirit of Chris Reeve's Superman to an all time high.

Cloigeann, thanks so much for adding these scenes. Superman II has been my favourite movie since I was 6 yrs old, I'm now 34. I loved the extended scenes of Non chasing Superman thru Metropolis. Hated that US Arctic Patrol scene - it's inconceivable they'd make it out that far to the North Pole. And General Zod's line "misbegotten brat" was laughable. I think overall the makers made the right decisions. Tho I'd have preferred Lois to know Kal-El's identity instead of the memory loss via kissing.

I remember I had an old copy of S2 that my dad taped off TV from sometime in the early 80s, and it had some of these scenes. I definitely remember Non crushing Jimmy's camera and the villains being hauled away by the arctic police in that version. It was definitely a better ending IMO then the villains being killed. No one wants Ursa to die after all.

Thau didn't do it by himself, Richard Donner told him what to put in and what to leave out. pretty much he redirected his movie. If you watch the extras on the Donner cut DVD he explains how he does things differently now from back then. maybe he edited it for pacing

just imagine folks all of the special effects from this clip is BEFORE computer graphics imagery and is still kicking the ass of the movies made today in the digital age. the wail of the banshee is classic as well as the haunting image of the death coach with the headless driver. they sure as hell do not make movies like this anymore. a classic to be sure.

I really loved this movie when I was a kid, and am really glad to see that I wasn't the only one these scenes scared the bejesus out of back then! The depiction of the banshee at his door made me afraid to take the trash outside the door after dark for days and gave me nightmares for a week or two! My Dad STILL gives me grief about it!

Just another comment about how that Banshee freaked me out as a wee lad. Spooky. At least I learned that throwing kerosene lanterns is an effective way to be rid of such apparitions. Another scene that had be covering my eyes as a kid was in ANOTHER movie Sean Connery was in! The scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where the Donovan "chooses poorly" and drinks from the faux Cup o' Christ. "Yargghhhh!!!!" In retrospect, the effect is pretty tame. But still freaky.

yes, unfortunately you are soo correct on this one issue. it actually started a long time ago but it became more prevalent in the late 1960's and it has continued at an accelerated pace in which the slasher/horror movies are made very cheaply and unfortunately turn a profit due to the gullibility of the movie going public and teenagers. gone are the days of quality scary movies like this. alas!!

He has a weakness. He can take damage to his pysical body. He can bleed. But only if he uses his true powers too much. Basically he has a gauge of power. Using the chains and the fire drain it. He has a lot of power but if he should ever over-exert himself then he'll be weak as a baby. No matter how many times he dies he will always come back in a matter of time though.
