Older, there are the three Kings, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf... If you branch out a little more, Slash is half black. Vernon Reid of Living Colour is black, as is David Fuze Fiuczynski of Screaming Headless Torsos (even if he's a hardcore fusion guy)... And we still haven't mentioned acoustic blues

And Stevie certainly isn't the best singer in the world, but lets face a true fact and thruth here, he is probably one of the best and most passionate blues vocals of all time. He was actually quite overlooked as a singer, but he was a great one. Stevie had it all, thr power, strenght, soul. no stevie wasn't opening for anyone, the problem was that this was a Jazz festival and as we know Stevie plays the blues that is the reason he got boed, but he came back in 1985 to the montreux blues festival and was headlining, no one was boing that time!....

Yeah SRV is freeking sick. i love his stuff. now i love stevie ray vaughans work but i have never heard him play slide before and for the first time hearing him play it im really impressed not too many guitarist can play with a slide its really amazing seeing one that can do it

i've got the docu on dvd. The reason they were booing them is because they were expecting an acoustic set (quiet) and they guys turned up and blew there wigs off! Good for them and it shows what talent they were by keeping it going and keeping they high standard brilliance up!! I also THINK David Bowie was in the audience here and thats why he signed up Stevie to play on Lets Dance.
