Kerry King from Slayer is sloppy. Mantis from Venom is sloppy. Jack White is sloppy. If you transcribe Vernon's solos, there are no chipped notes, he hits every note he's going for. (Its called taking chances) This is obviously a one-off jam at a festival, and was meant to be for fun. I don't think either side is going to sway the other into changing the other's mind. In other words, what Elvis brought above everything else to rock and roll was a white (mainstream) audience. That is what allowed this artform to be "discovered" by mainstream America. So, again...my commentary has less to do with Elvis--and more of a statement on how historically this happens (and continues to happen.) Without a doubt--Elvis brought this preexistent music to the "mainstream"; in the same way the Eric Clapton brought reggae rhythmms to "mainstream Americans.

I think when he gets atonal jazzy it throws people off. Its not an easy sound to like, and sometimes just doesn't work in a rock band. I loved Living Colors albums, and he did some good giant rock riffs on those. Sometimes he does go too far out for my tastes.

Ok man. Monquio says that the band needs a real guitarist. He says Vernon is pathetic, sounds bad, out of tune, vague... it's a pity... the rest of the band sounds good. The drummer is the boss. I answered that I find incredible to say this. Vernon is a great guitar player, and he is the former of the band. He has a great technique and a personal style. Maybe he abuses of some tricks or resources like speed or playing outside, but that's part of his style.

Es increíble que digas esto. Vernon no solo es un gran guitarrista, él formó la banda. Tiene una gran técnica y un estilo muy personal. Quizá abusa de algunos recursos como la velocidad y el tocar outside, pero eso forma parte de su estilo.

Living Colour gave the best live performance I have ever seen back in 1990 in New Britain, Connecticut. They just got back from touring with Anthrax for a year. Killer musicans, tight band, nonstop energy from the begining of the show to the end. I saw them 2 years later but they didn't have the original bass player. Bad Brains opened for them. P.S. When they came to Vienna (my hometown) they were talking to some of my friends after the show and invited them to their show the following day. My friends took me along so I saw them for free. Their energy and drive was amazing. This was in 2004. After they had parted in the 90ies, I thought I was never going to see them on stage. So that evening made me really happy. (Sort of like when you've finally slept with a girl that you wanted to have throughout your high school years).
