One can grow and return to K. 's films as onematures. Decalogue is a must see. 3 colors left an imprint on me more than a decade ago. Double vie Veronique also has so many silences and colors and composotions that speak so intensely and quietly at the same time. His film technique is genius .I must find the Decalogue !!!

YES! I would say watch 1 film of the Dekalog very 2-3 days to finish the set of 10... also mix the sets up, their not in correct order accordingly to the Catholic 10 commandments, nor are they accurate to the actual commandments, however what Kieslowski's Dekalog does is negotiate moral questions through harsh living conditions while subverting the narrative and manipulating which plays a role in manipulating the chance & choices of the character.

to abhinc - Yes, there is an option of English subtitle on this making-of...I am not sure than the version released in France. The french release: Disc 1 = film ; disc 2 = making of, interviews. Grazie Fabio for the comment! Kieslowski is beyond the representation of the naturalism in cinema! His work is above intellectual cinema, his images & compositions (music & editing) serve to question the authenticity of the intimate human experience & emotions! This is beyond cinema, it's the magic in his work that enables the viewer to interpret the metaphysics into the multi-dimensional! He's a GENIUS!

I seriously think kieslowski is gone beyond his art. Sometimes i think that in his movies (rouge in particular) i can say "this is so pure and natural" and "this is over the human being perception" in the same moment. Kieslowski can really capture youself.

The first 10 minutes of "Bez Konca" (The End), one of my favorite films by Kieslowski!
Absolutely GENIUS filmmaking along with brilliant metaphysical representations requiring a competent reader to decipher the complex allegories. "Bez Konca" deals with Martial Law & Solidatiry trials in Poland in 1982 as well as the humain emotional reaction of such harsh enduring conditions.

And then later in the scene the Polish kid (Zenek) says "My father was killed by the Germans, and when I return to Poland I will take revenge" the Russian kid says "Poland does not exists and it will never again exist" then Zenek says "It's a lie!" I always felt this part of the film on the contrary to the poster is a view inside a fair and egalitarian Communist society. Long live Comrade Lenin and Comrade Stalin! Wir sind doch ja! I think this movie is great and tht the critics made on both Nazi Germany & Stalinist USSR as totalitarian regimes are quite accurate... However, I must reckon that it is a pitty that when people think of communism just think that the only communism possible is the Stalinist version :(
