I play the cello, and I think if you actually play the instrument you appreciate it a lot more. If you close your eyes and just let go this song just makes you feel like you're floating. So beautiful.

Still not convinced - still think that overall, Rostropovichs' version is more personal - this seems to pander to the listener rather than be a personal interpretation.

hey man I don't think your nuts. composers see music in a much different way from anyone else because the wrote it they know the feelings that went into it. people can appreciate music but on a different wave length. so good luck on the viola, I would really like to hear it when you finish it. :-)

he is awsome this is true, when i was a baby i always had this in my head and i had never heard it.and today in music class it was being played. I almost cryed.I had never felt something so crazy i love this song and i am going to by a chello and learn no matter what happens.

I am currently working on this piece on the Viola. It has realy showed me how to "emotionaly phrase" music. Its almost like you are shapeing the music, like a ball of clay in your hands. I am starting to see music diffrently. I cant explain it, like I dont see just notes and dynamics anymore I see the music's heart if you will. I know I probably sound like a nut, but its something you just have to experience.
