In fact, while Tim can't hit Matt' deep growl, Matt can't hit Tim's bloodcurdling high pitch scream, at least as high as Tim. In Graspop 08 where Matt sang Ten Thousand Strong, he just couldn't do it, not because he couldn't get that high, but because the song was too fast for him to sing in that pitch right.They're both gods,

I do not agree with you at all. NWOAHM bands for the most part are shit. There are a few good ones like Chimaira and Shadows Fall, but are mediocre to crap at best. Slayer is alright though. But Belphegor just blows them away in technicality, instrumental skill, and overall intelligence.

HIs name is Torturer. Best drummer Belphegor had was Nefastus, hands down. He had a better knowledge of technicality, time, and rhythm then Torturer. Robert is pretty nice to.

Cynic got started as a death/thrash band (listen to their 1990 and 1991 demos and you will hear a completely different Cynic than in "Focus".), that's why many people "perceive" them as death metal. I think Continuo Renacer and Spiral Architect came really close to achieving what Cynic did.

describing cynic as death metal is not doing them justice. Death metal is such a limited genre, cynic were in a league of their own and transcended petty labels. Even 15 years later no one has touched what they achieved on focus. The main reason they were perceived as "death metal" by some people was the fact that they recorded at morrisound and got a typical scott burns metal production. Strip away the chainsaw distortion and trigger kickdrums and they were closer to a fusion band.

Cynic would have gone nowhere had Masvidal and Reinert not performed on Human. They were nothing more than another band in the Florida scene until that was released. After that, they all of a sudden became "legendary." I'm not going to say they aren't talented. They are exremely so, but you have to put things in perspective. They are not in the same league with Death which is a true legend.

I've heard the new stuff and I've heard Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon. I still say that Matt is better. While Tim is a great singer, I can't count the number of videos where he's just subpar. I think he kicked ass with Priest, but he's not right for Iced Earth. On the other hand, Matt made Setian Massacre sound fucking brutal. The Clouding is a masterpiece with Matt. I'm not too enthused about I Walk Alone, but it's not Matt's fault. The writing was just sort of subpar.

From listening to Tim sing live on some of the old Iced Earth tunes like Dracula , and Melancholy , Tim couldnt hit the low notes with ease. He sounded nasal. It is just outside his range , like the high stuff is out of Barlow's range , they both sound awkward in those situations. Hopefully this works out for the best for both singers , though it would be cool to hear a combo track with Owens and Barlow on vocals.

ALOT of bands have to work hard to get where any of the oldschool metal bands are! Iron maiden,black sabbath,manowar,dio etc. Manowar is one of my top 5 bands and i fucking love manowar! Eric probably has the best metal pipe there is even at this age,but my favorite is still Ronnie James Dio. I still think this guys very high tones are GREAT. I have typically found that when people "claim" to be better than another "famous" guitar player, musician, whatever, it's all talk. There is a reason Marty Friedman is Marty Friedman. Yes, he is unique, but few people can play his stuff because of his phrasing and sense of melody and time. Just because you can play all of Vai's tunes note for note doesn't make you as good or better because chances are what these guys are capable of doing is only a fraction of what you see live on on record.

We dont really know his budget now do we? Reading his journal while touring with the Trio, lots of people came to the shows because of his exposure from Testament. I drew great sorrow from his departure and I am pleased he is back, if only for a limited time. His work with TSO is profound, even though i dont get wind of the east coast troupe. i get stuck with the west. I will get a trio cd for myself, if i can find one.

I've been playing guitar for 4 years, and im still amazed that Jeff and Chris can do the things they do after 15+ years playing this amazing instrument. I will die happy if I can play with such lucid dexterity, precision, and technique as these guys do. Zero Order Phase is an insanely good album, and I hope to be hearing more from Jeff and Nevermore (and possibly chris unless he decides to settle down and marry dave and megadeth) for many years to come!

Wow, I didn't know this. The version I have of this song says it's by Nightwish. I'm glad I clarified that by searching it. This is a great song, I love drumming to it. I've never heard of this band, I'll have to check more into them. The singer sounds like he has a lot harder time live than he does studio though, but reading these comments, it sounds like he's just getting to that point where he's getting worn out. You guys are retarded. First, imaginary numbers are high school shit. Second, you "can't" take the square root of a negative number the same way you "can't" subtract 7 from 5. You just need to introduce a new number -- i in the first case, -1 in the second.
