yes sometimes it is a tad bit difficult. However, I found the rose by Ms Shea to be easy. She takes her time, like like some of them who just want to show you they can do origami. It is at first a tad bit tricky, buy you can do it. I finally got to see how to make it. It took me over 10 years. A ex-co worker of mine use to make alot of my money rose gifts. Now I can do it myself. What makes it good is that it is a video, you can stop it and go. Good luck John.

omg its so hard to start with origami. just wanted to make a rose for my girlfriend and watched some videos but failed to make a rose. But now I'm into it and want to learn every sculpture- tried it with a crane, a scorpion but I think that those are bit to difficult for beginners too... anyway- I wont give up ;)

I have been looking in books and at other videos repeatedly... your video is the only one that was clear enough for me to follow! I did it with plain paper for the first test run, but I plan to pick up origami paper soon. Having tried it now, I understand now why that works better. It's not just a crease, but a crease the will bend both ways. Normal paper doesn't do that. Anyway, thank you so much! I've always wanted to know how to make a crane! XD

Absolutely awesome. Did it first time. The only slightly confusing part was the inside out fold right at the end but that was only because I didnt watch you properly. Basically make 2 squares and then a kite, then another kite then end. I loved it. I am gunna practice until perfect and then move onto something harder :D ... You have gained a new follower :)

Excellent, I wanted to make one of these for my girlfriend as she loves prison break, so i followed this using a piece of A4 printer paper, which i squared off and it worked first time! Few little problems but easy enough to correct, thanks a lot!!!

You don't necessarily need origami paper to do this. You can measure copy paper or even wrapping paper to the right size (Usually 12 cm or 6 inches), and start folding. But you can get origami online (Ebay) or you can go to regular arts and crafts stores such as Michael's to get it. Good luck!

Just a reminder to people new to origami that this is NOT the easiest origami out there. Start with the simpler shapes - the cup or the dove. If you really just want to start with the crane, I have a separate video up with is a VERY SLOW version of the crane that you might find more easy.

Really saulaxluverx, I did it once, and it really looked good for the first time. I think lisa takes her time to show you how to make the rose. she explains it thoroughly to you as well. I always wanted to know how to make it. A former co-worker used to make gift baskets and sell different products with money. Mostly the rose money. go to a craft store and get the wiring and the rose like stems. Do it a few times, and you will get it. It is so cool!

LOL still that's a good start! It takes some practice to get these shapes right. It's hard to re-fold the same bill so unless you have lots of bills around, it might be easier to cut some paper into the right shape and practice with that.

First, keep in mind that this isn't a basic shape. Practice the others - the crane, the flower, first. Once you get the hand of the basics, this will be MUCH easier. For the head, you lift the point up towards the sky, then you squash it STRAIGHT down so the point lays on the line beneath it. The thing is the videos can't go slow enough to meet everybody's needs - if they did they would bore 90% of the viewers :) But if you use the pause and rewind, that lets every level of folder use the same instructions. Make sure too if you're new to origami that you start with the more simple shapes! Start with the cup and the dove.

You know, you might think that, but with plain colored paper in a YouTube video you can't see any of the folds or lines at all. They all blend into one solid mass of color. The patterns really give you the best chance of seeing where the paper overlaps. The DVD even more easier to see because it has the highest quality image. I did the best I could with YouTube's restrictions here.

Very carefully! The point is it's hard to open so nobody else could then ever refold it exactly right, to "sneak a look". You would have to ease it open in essence undoing your folds.

In the love knot there are a lot of steps that involve folding the flap from left to right, i.e. not a fold really, but rearranging which "face" of the shape is pointing up. It sounds like you probably missed one of those. You ended up with the pyramid end being open and not the straight end. Try doing it again and focusing on those "face swaps".

Hello, at 4.43 when you have to fold the top layer upwards I get stuck because the straight edge side is stuck to the straight edge side of the opposite triangle, I can only fold the top of the piramid down instead of the base up and obviously it doesn't work. I don't think that would work - the dollar bill is long and skinny, so the pieces wouldn't connect together, and with the bill having thicker paper, it would be challenging to make some of the smaller folds.

Well remember that the ring is one of the hardest shapes. Start with the butterfly, and with the shirt. Practice on those a while to get the hang of those and then come back here! If you're really still stuck I'll try to post a super slow version like I did for the crane.

I think it would be harder to see with white paper :) Really though, you simply cut down the top layer of one side. There's no real trick or technique there, you cut right along the fold. Go ahead and cut down the entire side for your first one, to see how it works.

Go to 1:58. See the horizontal line at the top of the shape - the one created when you folded the pink triangle downwards to meet the other triangle? That is the top line. You now take the left and right side of that *same top triangle* and get them to match up with that line.

It shouldn't matter that the paper is white or not white. The key here is to really crease well when you do the two "preliminary folds". Give them very sharp creases. Then when you fold those two edges to lay along the top horizontal fold - at time 2:15 - there naturally will be a triangle in between them.
