I love the interview at the start. I really like Japanese music too and it's a shame they weren't a huge hit in Japan, although Japan has had a very strong national pop scene for a long period so it's hard for foreign acts to break into it.

I was 16 when I heard this track for the 1st time during school summer holidays in 84. I was completely blown away by the state of the art production and Green's voice. These guys were way ahead of everyone else. Still today I cannot believe how brilliantly that record was put together.

darrin1701 I couldnt agree with you more. The 80's in general were a special time for music as a lot of the genres intermixed with one another and it was completely okay. A lot of Hip Hop of the 80's and early 90's is brilliant. The rap of yesteryears can only be linked to todays (c)rap by virtue of evolution but IMO the rap of today is for the most part, superficial garbage.

Thanks for your message. Yes I totally agree with you, so much great music, innovation and talent came from those two decades. I've always hated novelty records (the birdy song, those guys should be stabbed!) and there were quite a lot in the 80's but most of the music was credible and still great to listen to today. I still have my vinyl records and CDs from the 80's and still go to see 80's veteran bands like OMD, Howard Jones I'd love Thompson Twins to do a live show too. Take care.

I was a huge Squier fan in the 80's. Even joined his fan club. The first songs I learned on guitar were Billy Squier's. My sisters always teased me that he was gay. I still love his music, and figure he probably is gay, but I really could care less. Met him in the early 90's after a gig - He was having some cat fight with a chick. Didn't seem like the coolest guy, or the happiest. Oddly, I don't remember this song and I had all his stuff - even the Piper stuff on LP!!!

FWIW - The first two FtF records (Face to Face and Confrontation) have been re-released on Sony (Epic), with some "bonus tracks", dance mixes and "One Wish" was added to Confrontation. I saw Squeeze/A Flock Of Haircuts/The Producers in a small ass club (100-200 people?) in around the summer of 1982 here in Grand Rapids,Michigan.....I had front row seats when Squeeze (the headliners) came on..... They opened with "Is that love?". Still talk that concert to this day..... Am going to go see them in Detroit in August! yahh!

It's been a long time since I last saw this. Like other people, I remember seeing this on VH-1's New Visions. It was a pretty good show. Eddie Jobson's "Theme of Secrets" CD was an excellent album. He used a synclavier for everything on the album. Unfortunately, I think he only made one CD for Peter Baumann's (ex-Tangerine Dream)Private Music label. Why that was I don't know. It would have been great if he had made a follow-up.

UKZ is a new band Jobson's forming (they're recording now) with 3 other world class musicians. Trey Gunn - WARR guitar. Played with King Crimson Alex Machacek - Guitar. Wouldn't surprise me if Copland (drummer for Police and a fine keyboardist) was inspired by Jobson. Jobson is an excellent keyboardist and an even more virtuoso violin player!

Yes, but it was hardly something that was visible in everyday life or pop culture in the '80s the way it is since 9/11. It was considered a remote possibilty and security then was less than tight, in fact, some airlines (including the major one in Squeeze's home country) left the cockpit door open and allowed passengers to visit the cockpit in flight pretty much right up until 9/11.

It was a stand-alone single in 1987. The first thing they did with new members Martin McCarrick and Jon Klein. It's sort of obscure because Siouxsie hated what the producer did with her vocal. It must have been something personal she had against Mike Thorne, because the song is absolutely gorgeous, vocals included, and deserves to be more known.
