He is a important lose for the histore of the rock and pop (soul) isn't it?
By: Djembefay. on 22 Nov 08, 04:35:18
Hey man, I grew up that way too. I do think he understands what it's like. I guess it's just hard for me to hear someone sing about something so serious when they have so much. Even if they have been stuck in that situation before. I just feel like if I had the same opportunity, I'd not waste my time with mansions and cars. I'd help my family and community. But that's just me. I can't expect everyone to feel the same way. I was pretty bogus to even start this argument.

you shouldnt even be trashing no one the way you did. i take offense to elvis being accused of not knowing what it wa slike to be poor and living in the ghetto. because i grew up the same way he had. the only diofference is he became rich and famous cuz he had a gift none of us could ever have. the only thing wrong in his life was he couldnt ever say no and the prescription drug abuse but back in them days no one knew them kind of pills were as bad as street drugs.

My apologies...ElVis. With a V not a C.
By: Djembefay. on 21 Nov 08, 19:49:46
LOL.I'm white. Just thought I'd wait for you to make some racist generaliztions before I threw that out there. Don't really even care about the Elcis argument. Give yourself a pat on the back.
By: mofoca22. on 21 Nov 08, 14:27:19
hey retard cant you tell im mocking your dumb ass? your the one who is saying elvis wasnt poor and dont knolw what the ghetto was. stupid race bating black ass
By: Djembefay. on 21 Nov 08, 07:04:29
You just said that there's no such thing as a "poor white person who busts their ass to get out of what there in (nice grammar by the way)," yet the main focus of your argument is that elvis was a white man who worked his way out of poverty. How about you take another stab at producing a convincing argument.
By: mofoca22. on 21 Nov 08, 00:27:14
i hate ignorant jealous people they gotta make such ignorant comments about someone they obviously know nothing about.
By: mofoca22. on 21 Nov 08, 00:23:52
dont even bother blacks are the only ones who live in the ghetto theres no such things as poor white person that busts there ass off to get out of what there in. only blacks do it i guess and they rob banks and say they were busted cuz they were black lol
By: mofoca22. on 21 Nov 08, 00:22:47
hey asshole motherfucker grow up he was born poor he was poor right up to 1956 when he made his first millions.l he lived in the slums of memphis. you are a racist asshole i can tell. he knew what being in the ghetto was before your parents were evn thought of. thats how much you fucking know. none of you assholes know how to work hard for what you got you all use race or color for an excuse as to why your poor and that diusgusts me no wonder why bill cosby nearly has a stroke
By: EIRINI91. on 20 Nov 08, 22:05:57
For your info missy or Mr Elvis grew up in the ghetto being born in a one room house his dad built etc., oh and by the way, are you blind??? can't you seen the evidence in this video "Hellooooooo!!!!!!"
By: Djembefay. on 20 Nov 08, 21:28:11
Elvis owned a 23 room mansion. He also owned multiple cars, trucks and harley's, as well as two (not one) TWO airplanes. Sure, he might have done a few good deeds here and there, but anyone with the kind of material riches that he possessed has no right to sing about life in the ghetto.
By: mofoca22. on 20 Nov 08, 18:01:33
limewire has many of the songs on there and if you ever want me to i can send you copy i have thousand different versions of this song done by elvis in concert or in the studio
By: mofoca22. on 20 Nov 08, 18:00:17
dude elvis gave more money away to poor people than you know. read books and ask people who lived in memphis while he was living. there are thousands and thousands of documented stories baout elvis's genorosity. so shut your mouth about things you know nothing about you jealous pinhead
By: filmtress. on 19 Nov 08, 20:54:04
evlog, I am a lot of things but ignorant isn't one of them. Maybe it is for YOU. But don't worry, I think a lot of young people have moxie to stand up and march for what is 'noble' and 'right' so I urge and encourage to "Do the right thing" ! Peace to you. Don't get disrespectful with me!

in quartiere ciamano ghetto non e perfetto
By: Kindziorka911. on 19 Nov 08, 15:36:11
in the ghetto his mama cries This is the King Elvis So love this song and my MuM Love U :)
By: Djembefay. on 19 Nov 08, 11:12:06
P.S. Robert Johnson is the true king of rock and roll.
By: Djembefay. on 19 Nov 08, 11:10:48
Bet this song alone made elvis enough money to feed hundreds of thousands of starving families "in the ghetto" but he probably spent a good portion of it on drugs, booze, and outfits that look like they were made by a mentally ill cowboy going through an acid phase.
By: evlog. on 19 Nov 08, 03:41:10
I love how you think that you can speak for an entire race as though its members don't all have individual minds. You're an ignorant fool.
By: mcrgrl9. on 19 Nov 08, 02:29:19
Does ne one know where I can download this song?
By: filmtress. on 19 Nov 08, 01:42:51
...continued to evlog: And it was taken and understood that they were refering to white people living in the ghettos. But that was AFTER we (blacks) expressed our discontent over the crappy song targeted at us. I'm sick of a lot of young people who make these crazy ass statements as if they know everything. A part of being mature and bright is knowing what it is you don't know and being humble enough to not only recognize it but willing to learn about it before you make irreverent statements.
By: filmtress. on 19 Nov 08, 01:37:57
Evolg you need to re-read the post you responded to. It says to ask someone IN THEIR fifties NOT in THE 50's. There's a difference you know. Then again maybe you don't. I don't care If it peaked, it wasn't popular among US black people. We thought 'what nerve'. But Elvis is white so the majority of the country loved him, we saw him as a 'turncoat wannabe black, but only expressed prejudice. Don't bother redifining it. The song sparked enough controversy where folks popularized "ghetto slums"
By: crazedmom23. on 18 Nov 08, 23:52:48
Well,I think it is a far reach to expect a song to be factual...You'd be best off turning off your tv and radio if you expect this...He did not live in the ghetto,no...Not then...BUT!...Living only about 15 minutes from Graceland now...It is definetely the ghetto now...As is most of "Memphis proper"...Ghettos aren't a secret and aren't designated to one color either...There are white folks in the "hood" too babe!...Stop making everthing about race or this country will never get anywhere!!!
By: Elisabetta1971. on 18 Nov 08, 22:12:13
filmtress, myshrooms2 TO RIGHT. IT WASNT ABOUT BLACK OR WHITE!!! QUIT MAKING IT LIKE THAT!! GEEZ GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!!
