what i meant is the koreans were not trained well enough to put up the kind of resistance that was there so i think the soviets had to play a large role. but thats just my opinion.

i would bet they played a large extent because the koreans were poorly trained and for them to even put up resistance to the americans they would need a lot of soviet support. i watched a show where a former korean fighter pilot said the russians barely told them how to take off and land the jets let alone use it in combat.

Yes, the US pilots did great jobs during Korean War.But becareful here,we still don't know to which extent did the soviet pilots involve in the Korean War,the high killing ratio of USAF counts the total number not just those piloted by Soviets. It is not true that most of communist pilots are russians. By the way, the three top aces of the Korean War are all soviets.

yeah thats true. but thats now. back in the day when there was none of that the americans were still killing russian pilots more than being killed. actually now that i think of it the f86 had a radar arranging gun sight. but still they pilots had to get into a kill position to use the technology.

you sir are correct however its not just the pilot training but the fact that the russians were still using a gun sight comparable to that found in a spitfire, were as the usaf had a newer gunsight that calculated deflection etc. so whilst the planes(airframes were matched) the avionics/ target acquisition systems were a world apart

most of the pilots during korea were russians and we still had a kill record of 10:1. the US pilots are that much better. ask anyone and they will say the mig 15 and f 86 are equals in performance. the pilots made the difference. in vietnam we still had a kill ratio of 5:1.
