Rumi's message of universal love is in their opinion(West's) contradicts with the image of the religion of Islam these days.I think they could be wrong in their opinion and I also think that we muslims also have a lot to answer for by not conveying the true message of Islam-we have made people to fear and loathe us by using the hard power of Islam.Islam still retains a soft power that if used correctly we can make friends out of these people.Anyway,Mawlana Balkhi, Farid Ad-Din Attar.............

no one can make a dipiction of Him SAW , HE SAW is perfect one but you can see his reflection in rumi life,his poetry,HE SAW is The Best teacher who guides these souls hungry for truth till the day of judgement. He SAW guide maulana rumi and see wht he became from a scholar to a poet and his love cross the countries/centuries/cultures,religions, race,that is the universal love all of us dying to have because it was built-in(like signal receiver)as a help from Allah.

sorry so say your friend read nt you , so may his bias /personal experience was there when he made an opinion about maulana rumi,it is islam and who is Hazrat Shams again a saint , Wht is the defination of love from where Hazrat Shams got it, they drank from same fountain(Hazrat Muhammad),urs very limited knowledge , there are so many like him world is not aware of them, Hazrat Bayazid Bastami RH, Hazrat Mansoor RH, and none of these are near to companions RA love for Hazrat Muhammad SAW,

Ref JCourage, Nopes he is not, He is a muslim and believed that the line of these Manifestation of God ended on Hazrat Muhammad SAW. But Allah Knows human tends towards error so he blessed Hazrat Muhammad SAW Ummat with these saints who came ,coming and will coming till the day of judgement. My friend I suggest you to study about him ,there are lot of books that you can read then maybe you realize that he hated religions,and funny thing is you want to teach a persian about rummi,islam can not inspire a shit so do not give credit to islam,he was inspired by love to his teacher shams.
