I test drove a Porsche 944 before I bought my FC. The RX-7 drives much better, imo. Granted my RX-7 has been babied its entire life and is in fantastic shape.

no thats wrong.. The twin rotor in RX7 FC is called a '13b' or '13bT' (if it's a turbo model).. Meaning 1.3 litre displacement for the whole engine you twit. No one measures half a V8's displacement.. LMAO.

I think the main problem with the RX-7 is that people (as truenofan said) don't take care of them, but that is probably because they think it's just another Japanese car like a Honda (no one takes THAT much care of a Honda) but a Porsche... people respect these cars, because for 1- they're German made (so they're built very well) and 2- they cost more and are worth more down the road. I own an 87' 924S and a 85' 944 and both are running very well :) *excuse me for being somewhat bias. :D 7osh

I agree, some people have no idea, they talk about V8's as if they're the beesknees, they're not, they drink fuel like fish and are slow to rev out. Tophlangsucks your right, but no need to go calling him a dickhead. Brent- Rotary engines are quite low in torque by nature, but with a light buggy this doesnt matter atall. A V8 would have too much (useable)torque and add far too much weight.

makes you think 500 hp and 200 torque, but I'm sure the torque is actually higher. I like my big block mopar, chev and olds, but that thing without pistons is pretty impressive when it spools up the boost. who needs torque for dunes anyway, torque is for rocks and launching heavy machines at the dragstrip. That car, produced in the late 1960's and early 1970's is roughly the same as an A4 FWD. Unfortunately, all automotive rotaries had dreadful longevity until Mazda solved the problems in 1976/1977. By then, all other auto manufacturers had ceased Wankel production and most research.

Nice job on your SA. I can only imagine how fast that is. I'm running 360RWHP on my FD. You car is a lot lighter than mine too. Actually, that nine inch conversion is really nice. With that 9 inch and 4 link, you should be running an easy 10 and 9's should be close. Have you run it yet?

No, that's a stock bottom end and diy port job on the head and an aftermarket cam along with a junkyard turbo, Holset Hy35. The engine is a ford 2.3 liter turbo, i't has a little over 420 whp and 440 wtq. A monster indeed!

A rotary can make that high pitched squeal before it blows. The loud crack at the end is probably the e-shaft breaking and when a rotary blows 9 times out of 10 there is always fire. In short mj23polairs this is what you see when any rotary lets go. Wait, this is a 993 Turbo so your buddy was wrong when he said it was normally aspirated. And plus, the only reason a tuner car will beat and exotic is because it is lightweight and with enough boost, the power/weight ratio would be dramatically increased. Porsche is and exotic and Rx7 is a tuner. Two totally different categories. I have a 993 and LOVE IT more than anything. Plus, the Rx7 needs to be tuned to beat this Porsche. The Porsche doesn't.
