They were able to constantly defeat the frankish king, and they raided Paris over and over until the Frankish king gave them "Normandie" (land of the norsemen) so you're out on thin ice when you say that.

Comparing Spartans and Vikings is stupid since they lived in two completely different periods. Viking armies never surpassed 15,000. Spartan amrmy never surpassed 10,000. But Spartans were trained since 7 years of age. By 18 they were kinlling machines and at top physique. Vikings never had much succes against organized forces [Battle of Stirling Bridge] and had to instead raid weak kingdoms.

The vikings destroyed several armies that were 4 times larger than their own army, and if you think that the vikings just randomly went into a battle, then you've just swallowed TOO much propaganda, but i guess that's what happends when you are in a battle with the catholic church, you only get crap and crap and crap. The ancestors of the vikings, the gothic people, were for example the only people who were able to seize rome.
