The thing to do is find a good teacher- there are many martial artists but few good teachers of martial arts. Think of what you want to defend against, focus on learning a few techniques really well against different sized "attackers"- start slow then build up speed and aggression when you have good technique. I know this stuff works, I train in Yi chuan which is very, very similar and it has allowed me to win more than a few real life attacks. No forms or ring techniques with this stuff. Previously I did forms training and so called MMA,but Systema or Yi chuan type training is a much higher level of applicable self defense and awareness.

I used to do ju Jitsu- there is a similarity, but i have to say, that these techniques look a little "loose and sloppy" perhaps it's safer to train that way..But in J J you keep things tight and close up to keep good control over your attacker..am I missing something?

Systema where have you been all of my life, I don't care how many people talk shit about systema on you tube, to me these moves look practical and can work in real life and i speak from experience of taking a few years of karate with all the bullshit of katas, bunkais as well the bowing, rituals and if you ever get into fight tell the sensei, for those out there who took karate you know what i am talking about as for systema just the opposite, keep up the good work.

The reason is because I guess it fits the praticular style that the Joker was going for in this scene. His men where dressed as mimes and he decided to dress up as an old day French clown (which typically had cherry shaped lips)to go along with the gimmick as mimes are also french clowns. Hope that explains it.

Now the marquee names don't fight until their mid 30s if at all, when their best days are behind them and the fans don't get treated to the best possible scenarios. It's easy to beat a slow powerpuncher as Hopkins did to Pavlik. Speed is power. You can hit a guy more frequent with speed. That makes cumulative damage and points. Few pro's have that KO style as you say. Most of them mainly rely on speed technique or workrate.

True. I do releive alot of anger on the heavy bag. I don't see anthing wrong with women having a heavy bag, I can't imagine why your mother would. Just look at Laila Ali. Its an equal opportunities world now.

You can make do without one though. Professional Boxer's sometimes never use them. Just master the punches by shadowboxing in front of a mirror and the power will come. When I was younger I pounded away at my punching bag till it ripped open. Without a punching bag I started shadow boxing in front of the mirror and perfected my technique and realized that increased my power more than anything. Still, I use a new heavy bag now to increase my power and speed still.
