Great use of sequences and repeated phrases towards the end of your solo to really build things up. You avoid sounding like another just another guitarist who is well versed in the bebop tradition. I'd love to see you playing some other stuff.

This is well before JJ retired from playing. But it is in the time I think when he degenerative back problems began. Maybe he was in pain, or maybe he just didnt want to be there. But honestly....there is no bad JJ Recordings. JJ was the Trombone Master...he even titled a CD that. It is a Yamaha Trombone. I am not sure on Model. But its Yamaha the folks who bring you "Fine Musical Instruments and Outboard Motors"

This is not jj at his best - he looks like he's getting on a bit and i think he quit playing for a while at some point before this. A listen through his discography and the fact that he developed his own style with the greats in new york in the 40's places him firmly in the jazz masters category as far as i'm concerned. minor7b5, i'm a jazz trombonist by the way. And i really don't like kenny g. And i do know what a Bb, a locrian and a hole in the ground are. And a sense of humour.

I actually thought that your sound was better than mine! It's a very smooth sound. But if you want vibrato, just tense and loosen your jaw a small amount repeatedly. It's the same concept as bending a note, which you obviously have command of.

Awesome job, dude! You've got a killer mellow tone. Plus, you have a very musical approach to soloing. So many high school/college guys are all about posting videos of their quadruple high Fs, but really, they're covering up for the fact that they can't do what you're doing. Holding notes is not a bad thing. Also, don't be afraid to take a couple beats rest, just keep the cord progressions in mind and always count. You have a great sound, a nice articulation - legato tongue - work on moving your slide faster.

I'm speculating that most, if not all, people posting negative comments have no idea how difficult it is to learn to solo over changes. If you want to say something negative, post a video response of yourself doing something better. The world is full of anonymous know-it-all do-nothings who love to cut others down and lack the courage to do anything themselves. As someone who is learning to improvise I can say that I wish I were as good as he is. Keep working and keep on jazzin' steeezmasta!

The action is fine.. it just takes getting used to. They had to do it light because it's easier to learn Rhodes on a light action than it is to make a B3 emulation with weighted keys. That would suck.

Well, as you suggest, the action for EP's and piano is too spring loaded and light. It's just awesome for organ and clavinet, but that would also be about it. I myself have a Nord Stage with weighted keys, and it feels awesome. However, I am actually going to buy an electro, primarily for the action when playing organ and clav - and the portability. Wauw.

Great feel! Interesting harmonic ideas. The Electro sounds great compared to my actual, real Rhodes. I'm considering switching over. How does the action feel, though? I'm looking for something piano-like or at least Rhodes-like. I've seen semi-weighted keyboards before, but the action always feels cheap and way too obviously spring loaded. How's the Nord Electro action like?

Another improv here folks! Just a 2-5 in A (Bm7-E7) using my Strat with EMG's into an MI Audio "Blues Pro" straight into my soundcard - hence the 70's kind of tone. Backing is provided by everyone's fave piano man Jamey Abersold.
