The reason she runs fast is because shes pumping adrenaline. Whenever your scared, in great pain, etc. you start pumping adrenaline. Thats why if you get in a car reck you cant feel any pain because it happened so fast the adrenaline causes it to block your pain and body limits. The only thing that prevents it is the IBM PC had an open architecture and many "clones" were produced. Still IBM's architecture prevails. Microsoft succeeded through great cockups of others: Digital, IBM and Apple. In the early days Microsoft (too) portrayed IBM as the evil empire. Funny how things change.

But my point is that they didn't even release Windows until after the Macintosh was released, and Microsoft didn't have hardly any power until 1995, over 10 years after this keynote. So Steve Jobs would literally have to be a fortune teller to predict that Windows would take over the industry, because there's no way to predict that. No. I don't do video production for a living. I'm a techie and a writer. I initially wrote the script as a parody of the Motrin Moms ad. However, it seemed like it really needed to be made into a video. I only had about half an hour I could work on it, and just my laptop. If I had more time and better tools, I could have produced something much better. But, it got the message across. If someone wants to remake it, that would be great.

If they had used CGI, the ad wouldn't have had the same feel and beauty. Watch the original and remake version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory back-to-back, and you'll know what I mean. The Sony people spent money - and they made money; loads of people bought the product because of this ad.

Again though, money wasn't the issue. It's the fact that people woulda picked that CGI crap out right away. CGI may be cheaper but it won't ever replace the experience and the work put into filming the real thing. And that goes for everything that gets put on film. As i said below, CGI is overrated and over used. I think too much CGI is just a cop out of doing the actual work.

not really. you create a ball shape (doesn't get easier) and project a path - standard parabolic path got G acceleration. And then you just duplicate the shape over and over. We're not talking half hour work or anything, but cheaper renting out a street in SF, bring out the crews, and cleaning up all the balls and the damage. CGI is almost always cheaper. In this case because of such simple. uniform mathematical shapes and paths, you probably would not have known the difference.

I don't think it looks CGI. I think the video quality is just that good and clear and sharp. I really hate that everyone now days have to think in terms of CGI-ing EVERYTHING. It friggin stupid. I think CGI is overrated and totally and completely over used in a lot of things that are filmed in today's film industry. Call me old fashioned but that's what i think.

It would actually be cheaper to get all those bouncy balls. Besides money isn't even the issue. I don't know anyone that would sit in front of a computer for hours on end and CG in every single one of them bouncy balls. It would be rediculous. It would just be way shorter on time and way easier to just get 250 thousand bouncy balls and throw them down a street in san fransisco lol.

This wasn't a TV commercial. It was a special film commissioned for the introduction of the product at the Polaroid shareholder's meeting. It was also used at dealer meetings and employee meetings. It was distributed on 16mm film. I think it may have also been available for camera clubs. That makes it even more extravagant. Until the Eames film gained wider distribution on VHS and DVD, and now YouTube, it was seen by very few people.

Well taken. And also consider the incredible extravagance of the entire system. Millions and millions of dollars were spent simply developing the entire system, and the camera itself was horrendously expensive to buy and use. However due to the great economy at the time, this wasn't too much of an issue. Also notice that the ad is dozens of times longer than the average TV ad, employing verbiage that today isn't present in the average American's vocabulary. I guess people today aren't as smart..

Consider that this film was made to introduce the SX-70. Polaroid was able to supply only a very limited amount of film to Charles & Ray Eames. Yet every photo shown is a gem. Also amazing is the diversity of the people shown. This was also way ahead of its time. In 1972, advertising models were pretty much restricted to white Europeans (unless you were trying to sell to an ethnic market).
