Well put!I have the iphone3g.I have no problems with texting on the keyboard.I find the keyboard nice since if Im not using it, it goes away & it doesnt take up valuable screen space. I use it for business use too & I find it great. I can send and read email just fine. YES it would be great to have some extras like copy & paste & etc BUT it is a software based phone and CAN be updated. Im sure the android is good too. BUT it is an obvious copy of the Iphone. They want some of those sales too.

Interesting views on whats the better mousetrap. Frankly, I wasnt all that motivated with the iPhone when it was first release. However, the advent of the G3 was a quantum leap in functionality made simple, and that is why the iPhone has become so popular (IMHO). Anywho, the Android is conceptually great, while Apple is more conservative, yet very careful to keep things simple. No doubt in my view that Apple will up the ante with something we havent even thought about yet. Regards, ~DD

Iphone wasn't first either. Windows mobile phones were around before the Iphone and PDAs were around before that. Apple just created their own OS using existing elements and put it into their own phone. It is by far the superior phone, but doesn't necessarily have the better os. Android needs to be around longer before anyone can draw any real conclusions.

I have gone through many phones in the last couple of years. The second Sidekick, then to a Blackberry, and finally to 2 PDAs with Windows Mobile in them. Sidekicks are mediocre. Blackberries lack QWERTY and touch-screen and just over-all lacks good design most of the time. And Windows Mobile PDAs just get SO damb slow. Plus the available downloaded programs for them are mediocre. But THIS open-source idea with Android IS the future. And if you can't already tell, you must be an imbecile.

Open source means it can do whatever people can make for it. There ARE NO specifics to talk about. Anything goes, and anything is too broad a category to pick just one app to talk about. The public won't give a fuck until developers start making apps, and the developers won't care if they don't hear about the SDK. This is for them, so nobody cares if you don't get it. But trust me, it IS something to get excited about.

Can't say that I'm really thrilled with what I have seen or heard about android. I hope a good structure is set for developers, I've had a Windows Mobile for several years (1, for the apps, and 2 because the blackberrys looked crap). But boy have I regretted those years!! The software that was created for it was no better, alot of memory leaks which just made the phone sluggish, very sluggish. I hope developers understand what a mobile platform means, (quick, short and sharp).

People take the simplicity of the iphone for granted but frankly that's what gives it most of its appeal. I don't want a KEYPAD on my TOUCHSCREEN phone, that is just redundant. Secondly, you CAN'T text on the screen with the G1, you have to use the keypad. I don't know about you guys but just the idea of typing on a glass screen is awesome let alone actually doing it. Lastly, is it just me or does the G1 seem cluttered with useless crap? The G1 is what you settle for, it is hardly a first choice

todavia es muy pronto para sacar conclusiones, veremos que sucede. Lo que me da miedo es que sea tan abierto, pues va a ser dificil distinguir las aplicaciones maliciosas del resto. No question - tmobile wing is old technology -- using same old processor as T-mobile prior PDA model, the MDA , which is easily 4 years old. They tried to save money by shoverling the old processor into what otherwise is a far better phone than MDA. But "stock" rom is bloatware. To be fair, you can get fantastic performace when replacing with revamped OS-rom from XDA-developers, with finger-touch apps, etc. It's Windows Mobile that is the crapper with old fashioned "desktop mentality" UI

I haven't read or seen any comparisons to T-Mobile's current top-of-line phone, the WING, a WM touchscreen device also made by HTC. It's of course not a 3G phone, but i wish i could get a sense of "what's better?" about actual usage. Google Maps runs great on my WING, with GPS, satellite view, etc. WING has slideout keyboard, "joystick" as well as touch controls... and when you dump the crappy stock t-mo/WM rom, replace with an XDA rom like OpenTouch, very responsive. Anyone know?

Yes, it's very slow even on dual-core based laptops, when you are on contracts, specially on big projects. It's creating hundreds of temporary files in project directory, which by people commiting them by mistake. And its completing for you brackets, quotes, even if you don't need them. I'm kind of person when I know what I type on the keyboard, but using Eclipse, it's like Word, which is changing everything which you typed. The only things good are java getters or setters and file patching.

Also, how do external web services trust this application? Since the cert associated with this app is self signed no external party can trust its identity. We made a radiator out of grass and piped icing, then we made the radiator pick up the vibrations of passing trains, we then took a wheel barrow full of lime flavouring and poured it over a tanning bed which we lined with felt, we linked this to a solar powered robotic vacuum cleaner and coated the entire system in marzipan ready for decorating. The end result is a great phone operating system that is expandable and future proof. This is roughly what i got from this video. :)

G1 is deftly better than the iphone... of course ht eiphone is sexier, cooler and got better touchscreen functions but nothing beats the keyboard, nothingg...and speakin of functions, people its a smartphone, a small pc, programs and softwares can be added...just like the PSP, the DS or any electronic gadgets...lol
