i agree with you that the insoles are the key to the shock resistance, but they can't be the grip. if you try to balance on something with the insole out, and then with it in, it will be the same. but hey i love the review good job.

the ball is a little closer to your toes than that, but i understand what you mean. personally i beat the hell out of my shoes (maybe u can tell in my vids from the nearly blank underside which used to be orange and black), so when I land, though they once had a slight arch, i land fine. i all about learning to work with what you got. plus, if 90% of the traceurs learned and/or practiced parkour on shoes that have arches, it won't matter. but good thought.

I've been looking for a while for new shoes, used to have nike dunks but they wern't GREAT i've been looking for adidas novas, but the orignals are nigh impossible to find, so i'm wondering if i should cut my losses and just go for The ariake?

i have k-swiss mesh and 5 10. personally i prefer the k-swiss i think they are built better. also the grip on the 5 10 is amazing but the ariake isnt far behind. just i prefer the k-swiss support because i have heel problems. its all preference but they are all good shoes.

Ima have to say that 5 10s are way better. In my opinion they last ages longer than these and the only problem i can find with them is they have no arch in the middle of the sole, which makes precision jumping on rails a bitch.

LOL ! You obviosuly havn't been doing this for that long if you still think that.. Rolls actually do nothing, theres a few videos about it here on you tube. The shcok absorbers in shoes just trick you into thinking you land ok because there was no pain but it is still means your damagaing your body... As I said before try doing allyourdrops barefoot, you will feel it even with a roll..

ok. first of all. you have to be the dumbest kid alive. you need them a half size smaller so that your foot does not slide around in the shoe while you do parkour or freerunning. and you, sir, can probably do neither of those. Being a size 10 (hahahaha) they should be about the right size, or maybe even half a size too small!, to fit that empty space between your ears.

If the grip is in fact the same as the normal Ariake, I would say it is amazing, but I haven't tried the 5.10 FR so I can't compare. In regards to the cushioning, you WANT to minimize the amount on the fore-foot since it allows you to feel the environment better. Having big thick soles decreases sensitivity and makes it more top-heavy, make it easier to injure your ankle. Thanks though, good review.

Well, he said that the 5ten had really bad grip on rails, but awsome on bricks and stuff. The Ariake and ariake lite, he doesn't say anything about bad grip on rails on those. So your choise, don't think that you will be dissapointed by any of the shoes anyway. =)

good review, but I don't think you understand the idea of shock absorbers. Yes you land on the balls of your feet but the impact spreads up your foot. Just look at every other shoe with shock absorbers the main shock absorbers are in the heal. But yes you still need shock absorbers at the front of the shoe.

yo dude, suprisingly enough my K-swiss ariake fell apart too, (the ones u had before). i'm starting to think that it isnt really a defect but that they really aren't as endurable as k-swiss claims them to be. also i'm starting to think that they aren't the best parkour shoes either, because my Nike 5.0 air have been withstading harsh parkour along with backflips off the roofs for about 2 years now, and right now they are in better condition then the ariake was 2 weeks after i bout them.
