This is one of the better instrumental versions of Stardust. It preserves the melodic line. Other versions "deconstruct" the melody too much, destroying its beauty. I'll never understand why so many talented musicians feel compelled to depart from the score so far that the melodic spine is lost. I suppose they get bored playing it "straight." That's unfortunate. The Nat Cole version is the best vocal version. For the same reason.

This song has been my favorite, ever since we lived in Wiesbaden, Germany in the early 60s (my father was stationed there), and they always played this at the Taunus Theatre (the American movie theatre) while we were waiting for the feature to start. The song was popular before I was even born (which is saying something!), but I love it as much as my favorites from the 50's, 60's 70's, 80's, 90's and today!! Another great one is "I Can't Get Started" by Bunny Berigan from that era.

No, you misinterpreted what I said, I meant that there are just some people who have a certain sound that can just make you laugh, cry, or just be astounded. What problem are you experiencing? Sound? Playing? I don't like the Rue Lepics-I think they suck. The Vandoren V12 reeds are great. Its possible your mouthpiece doesn't compliment your reed type. I'll let you know which mouthpiece I use. Remember, too, that embochure has a lot to do with the quality of your sound.
