ok, i'm a "Stargate" kind of guy. i've been under the impression that BsG is a bit overrated, doesn't really bring anything special to the table, and that the show is totally based on sappy drama-bs, and thus very annoying. this was my conclusion after watching 15 minutes of it one day.. however.. can someone convince me otherwise? its possible i haven't given it much of a chance. does anyone recommend this show? or not? and why? thanks lol

Look, All sci-fi Universes are incompatible. I know a game, Freespace 2 Open, and its universe has much better technology. Not one of the fighters had sheild systems or lock-on missles, and they definately didn't have EMP. Also, the capital ships in FS2 Open are bristling with weaponry: Beam Cannons, Flak turrets, lazer turrets, railguns, and Missle Launchers. The Death Star is the only match for one of those destroyers, But the star destroyers would be owned. Download FS2 Open, Its free!

It's hard to tell where Ronald D Moore has put this on the timeline. It might be revealed or hinted at next year, during the second half of the fourth season. So, if I were you I'd make sure I would've seen every episode so far, before we hit the final ten episodes! But, taking the high level of addictiveness of this show into consideration - that won't be a problem... ;-)

Hey this show is good, although I do agree it has the Hillary Clinton feminist movement feel lmfao... But none the less I say it is better than the old, because it is darker and more violent.. Yet still it has some major continuity errors... I mean like how the hell did they get to Galactica from that Tomb of Athena or was it really Earth that they were standing on? Okay, maybe it was just an image of Earth but how did they turn the image "off"? Take the arrow out of the statue? There is no statue in the image! Well that's what's bugging me :)

ok, i'm a "Stargate" kind of guy. i've been under the impression that BsG is a bit overrated, doesn't really bring anything special to the table, and that the show is totally based on sappy drama-bs, and thus very annoying. this was my conclusion after watching 15 minutes of it one day.. however.. can someone convince me otherwise? its possible i haven't given it much of a chance. does anyone recommend this show? or not? and why? thanks lol

If you look up the original series on Wiki, you'd see that it had the highest premier ratings of any show & eventhough ratings declined as time went by. You'll also read on the Nielson Rating page confirms that even when canceled, it was STILL winning its time-slot to the end. The Lucas & Universal counter-suits were dropped. Many criticised the cancelation of a series STILL winning its time-slot. This new series has never matched those ratings even on a cable channel dedicated to Sci-fi.

Actually the original BSG got cancelled because it cost over $1 million an episode to put together. The ratings gradually dipped during that year to where it was barely in the top 20 (monumental achievement for sci-fi though). Mork & Mindy took BSG's time slot..LOL There was also a lawsuit involving a kid that choked on a BSG toy viper. The Lucas lawsuit got thrown out, so that didn't affect the outcome. The original was kind of dorky but as a kid I thought it was cool. BSG 80 was crap.

I post this junk in empathy for relatives/friends in the industry who believe what I suspect are paranoid 'critics' up here claiming the reason the US creators keep producing these 'high-risk/critics-choice/ratings-flops' series/movies NOT in the US but in Canada is so it won't come back to bite them back in LA. Personally I blame the high Cdn $ more, I post the paranoia only as I empathize. Many failed stints must look bad on resume.

I like this BSG cause i can go to my local walmart,kmart,target, and gun store and have just about every thing they have. I actually have one of the pistols they use. Which is pretty neat, that its a space man gun. Acvtually nothing in BSG is all that out of the daily life of most here on earth, but you think they wouldnt smoke on a sealed ship. Look, All sci-fi Universes are incompatible. I know a game, Freespace 2 Open, and its universe has much better technology. Not one of the fighters had sheild systems or lock-on missles, and they definately didn't have EMP. For short range communications imperials use sub-space radio (which is easily jammed or intercepted) While for messages that need to be kept SECRET and SECURE they use the holonet. Holonet can't be used while the shields are up. What silly thing were you treying to prove with the bridge tower?

That was really really good, i could see that as something that would be used. There were two things though. first, there was one short clip that was used twice, and second, when it says the number of survivors, it is against a blue background, and it feels a little too cheerful. I mean this to be constructive criticism, i loved it, 5/5.

the old sci fi series like star trek: original and the next generation, and galactica and the first star war trilogy were not about effects, they were about plot. and these new versions are mostly about effect and maybe some plot as an added bonus. personally, i think the plot is more important. Ich wurde älter und meine gesamte Erlebniswelt wurde realistischer, düsterer, bedrohlicher, gewalttätiger! Ich habe einen fünfjährigen Militärdienst hinter mir und weiss mittlerweile, welche Ehre es bedeuten kann eine Uniform zu tragen,aber auch, welche Verantwortung damit einhergeht!! Ich bin ein begeisterter Fan der Neuauflage - aber ich kann Deinen Standpunkt nachvollziehen. Als ich zehn, elf Jahre alt war (und natürlich auch begeisterter Star Wars Fan)sass ich mit einem Freund vor dem VHS Gerät und habe mit grossen Augen das Geschehen in den alten Battlestar Filmen verfolgt. Ich war begeistert!! Dass eine komplette Fernsehserie existierte efuhr ich erst Jahre später - für mich gab es nur diese Filme, die ich mir immer wieder anschauen konnte!!

they can't have action every episode; they only have about 36 pilots out of the recommended 160 that they should have... For all we know THEY are the "things" from what the prototypes were created. We've become saturated with "reality tv" in Britain. I fraking hate it. If you're that desperate to see BSG, just use LimeWire and you can download it in HD, only takes a couple of hours. I do it every Saturday because I can't wait until Tuesday night. LOL

Ok, Roslyn's the 5th, follow me on this one now. In the beginning of the season 3 finale, Athena, Six, and Roslyn all have the same vision, 2 of the 3 are Cylons, why would it affect Roslyn if she was human?
