Isn't it funny that they can ban our so called bully breeds for being so called dangerous, yet they owner of a jack russel and a labrador had her 2 dogs running free outside and they were both attacking my staffy whilst she didn't even growl. They were biting her eye and i had to hit them off and pick up my staffy to protect her because she refuses to fight. but if it was my collie x, it would have been another story.

I have 3 english bulls and i know alot of people who are terrified if them just down to what they hear on the news about attacks. I think the main problem is when dogs attack alot of the time people are saying well it was a pit bull, staffie, English bull or rottie what do you expect. But it is a fact theat on a yearly basis more people are attacked by the likes of labradors than pit bulls or any other breed named above. The media just aren't intrested in the other breed attacks.

Is your friend alive? How many stitches did he/she get? Do you really believe that a pitbull could not have done more damage? I think we both know the answer to that. The problem is that the macho breeds ATTRACT the worst kind of owners. Since we cannot ban stupid people (damn!) They ban the breeds that we don't want idiots to own. Give another suggestion! This angers me so much I can't even put it into words! BSL is absolutely ridiculous the only people it will control is the people that are responsible w/ their dogs to begin with! The ones that are destroying these breeds will continue to do as they please & we will suffer & the dominos will continue to fall. Next it will be your breed & then yours! There is no way I will ever let go of my Rottweilers! The dog is an example of who is holding them at the end of the leash.

Talk about discrimination - BSL IS!!! I have never heard of this and am appalled at what I just saw. The saying "Punish the Deed, Not the Breed" is so very true. We have always had Dobermans in our home (another breed with this ridiculous reputation.) Our dogs are the most loving, loyal and well-behaved dogs ever. It would be a cold day in &%$# before anyone took our dogs from us. I thought we lived in the United States of America. BSL sounds more like the brainchild of a Communist State!

my aunt used to have a rottweiler it was one of the sweetest dogs i have ever known. i still dont understand why these ppl pushing BSL think its such a great idea and wonderfull for public safety. none of the laws have done a damn thing but make it worse for the ppl that have "dangerous dogs". the only way a dog is dangerous is if it is an individual dog that has attacked someone not an entire breed due to a small handful of owners.

My 2 young granddaughters live with 2 pits. Those dogs let the girls crawl all over them and have never moved a muscle in response. If these breeds are raised with love, patience & gentle training they are wonderful, loyal pets. It's when they're TAUGHT to be mean and vicious that there are problems. Example: Except for 3 or 4 dogs, ALL of Michael Vicks "vicious, killer dogs" have been broght back to good health, resocialized and have since been adopted, many to homes with small children.

Our humane society has been extremely stand up for pit bulls and any other dog on the cities list. Which there were some dogs I never even heard of. The humane society here deems a dangerous dog only if it has been aggressive to cause harm. Not by the breed. Hopefully at worst they will only have a few silly extra rules if anything. I'm from Omaha Nebraska. We have a possibility of banning American bull terriers (pitbulls) and many other mixes/or anything that looks like it. The legislature meets 9-16-08. With 3 types of these dogs & 2 cats we are very responsible owners. They are even micro chipped because we love them! They are all wonderful pets! Sent a lot of e-mails etc to city council/mayor....So worried! Thanks for the video. Sent that to them too!

i think its stupid, i used to have a rottweiler called anna who is unfortunately no longer with me but the years i had her were amazing. she had the best temperment i have EVER known in a dog, she was just so sweet. she'd never attack anyone. rottweilers arent even in the most dangerous dogs list anymore.

I know this is an old post but join pitbullforum and connect with others in your area. when you see a pit bull or Rott give them your email so if BSL is proposed you can gather support at the last min. often, we don't stay connected and when the meetings are announced it is too late to gather people and tell them to attend.

I belong to the american rottweiler club. I have 2 rotts. I live in a town without bsl but have known about it for several years now. When my rotts were 6 months old my neighbor took me to court under the dangerous dog law. My yard is fenced. Dogs never out without someone here. We won, but my point is I called numerous agencies to help me defend my babies. Not a one would help. So now I do what I can myself. I make numerous videos about the horrors in this world, including Bsl.

..........Most of the dogs I take out are Pit bulls and Pit bull-mixes. The low quality of their breeder and owner base does indeed seem to be the major problem here. The lack of responsibility in the pit bull breeding/owner community is seen in virtually every shelter and animal control centre in the country - they are overflowed with pit bulls and dubious mixes. The gluts of them are being dealt with by sodium pentobarbital.

........Unfortunately, these days care-/clueless breeders and questionable owners of one kind or another (and this includes a fair share of the "good" owners.) are the rule rather than the exception many places. These dogs are high maintance and have by far less failure margins than the average Fido. They should not be owned by the naïve, the inexperienced or those who seek a penis enlargement, cuddle ball or fashion accessories. Its the breeds course that they often are just that..........

Any dog that possesses the traits and possess the large damage potential this breed does, need qualified and ethical breeders who culls for faulty temperament. They need savvy and responsible owner who knows what they are dealing with, are in full control, acknowledge and knows how to deal with issues such as dog aggressiveness, prey drive and dominance, and acknowledge and take precaution for the off-chance that Fido in a given situation might be triggered to become somewhat dangerous.........

Breeder regulations are needed any anti- bsl would agree its the un recognized breeders that are creating the problems of mis-breed dogs. and any dog owner knows the need of training.. you make a good point in the end but more detial would be nice to understand were you are coming from. and the fighting is not a scapegoat those are the dogs that are killing people and if the breed is banned then the dog fighters will pick a new breed and continue then that breed will get lose and kill some one.

As of mind set quite simple really dont ban somthing that isnt all that deadly... your more likely to be killed by your caretaker then you are a pitbull, you more likely to die in a bathtube or a 5gl bucket for that matter. and there is no sientific eveidents that you show that proves the pitbull is more aggressive then anyother dog breed. but you are right and that is somthing that needs doing....

............- because its "unfair and discriminating" they have defiantly lost all my support. These people need to wake up and smell the coffee. Status quo is not a viable option for most people out there. If they do show no will to self regulate or to contribute to a much needed cleanup of their own backyard the community and officials might end up having to do it for them - and chances are that they will be sufficient pissed off at this point to not be overly sensible about it.

Last weekend a man was maimed to death. Beyond any rational doubts: a few breed accounts for the lion share of deaths and severe maulings, and Pit bulls have the highest propensity of any breed to be involved here. A lot of the owners seems to be suffering from denial and lays the blame on the dog fighting scapegoat when things with alarming frequency go wrong with the breed. Unfortunately, it's not that simple: Many - if not most - of the injuries are caused by the dogs of "good" owners........

...........A well socialized Pit bull is less likely to attack than many other types of dogs. But once a Pit bull does attack his instinct is to maim and kill -and he is very good at it. Unfortunately today there there are a lot of crappy breeders and irresponsible pit bull owners araund - especially in inner cities. Those dogs can be higly unstable and dangerous, combined with a by far higher capacity to send people to the emercency department or graveyeard than the average Fido.

Im 14, and was bored when i was off school for a day so i learnt all the sign words of a,b,c and d.. and tahts the only words i picked up Lol. I learnt the finger-spelling of BSL aswell and ASL fingerspelling.. although i don't know anyone deaf u thought it'd be helpfull oneday :D

I loved this video. Recently we lost our Rotty Girl of 9 yrs. She was a rescue that someone left to die. Most amazing dog of our life. to Honor her memory we just rescued a Male Rotty who was also left by some awful human, hungry and underweight. 2 wks later and he is doing great, filling our hearts and family with his love. This breed is amazing. I have a 6 yr old daughter both dogs have loved and protected her.

bad people will always find something they can train to bite and kill. when all "dangerous" dogs have been banned they will do it with german sheperds or anything else. i've been bitten twice: once by a german sheperd, once by a hound. i've been attacked by a newfoundland dog, i have interfered when a big white long-haired mutt attacked a small dog and her owner. i have been involved in plenty of incidents with aggressive dogs - but not in one with a "dangerous" breed, rotti or pitbull!

At one time I was totally against the Pitbull breed.... that was until we adopted a mix. She is so gentle and well mannered that we rescued a Bluenose puppy from a owner that fed her his drugs... that full blood pit is now my best friend. She gets along with all the other two dogs including the mix. She is just full of love, she is playful and loves to make kids squeal by showering them with sloppy kisses.

I hate when ppl say they love dogs but then they say except pitbulls. If you love dogs then you love all dogs whether its a powerful breed or lap dog or herding dog etc. If you never owned a pit then dont talk bad about them and if your sister/cousin/whatever got attacked by one well maybe that pit was bad or maybe it wasnt a pit at all. So many dogs are labeled as pits and they're not. Dogs always attack for a reason and ppl play a big role in that.

Pit Bulls have never historically been guard dogs. In my years of owning them, I've never had a dog that would guard property. Most will only bite in extreme situations. They can be trained to do so, but its not an ingrained trait of the breed. Even in professional bitework, the dog is not being trained to attack humans, but to tug at a sleeve. If you try to invoke a Pit Bull's defense drive, you end up with a neurotic animal because they just don't have much desire to bite humans.

Thanks for sharing this! I was present for the hearing of Wesselhoft's crappy BSL in Oklahoma, and the hearing was nothing like this. Its interesting to see how these things are conducted elsewhere. At our hearing, the only time you heard clapping that whole day was when his BSL got voted down 18-1. :)

Why does it seem so easy for the authorities to go after the innocent animal instead of the one's responsible. Most all Pit's are the sweetest dogs ever they should go after the dog abusers, animal fighting ring leaders, and gangs that have them as status symbols. Sadly, after BSL is passed in many regions, authorities have the legal right break into your home when you're not there, and confiscate the now-illegal dog (or kill it on the spot if they feel "threatened") and there's nothing the owner can do about it. Once they have your dog, they'll kill it. They have no morals or ethics. The law supercedes the individual's belief he/she is protected by the constitution.
