You are wrong if you believe that the only people who really knew Pusser was is family. I have interviwed people in law enforcment including some of Pusser's own deputies and some of them are not complimentary at all of Pusser. Yes, contrary to popular believe there are former deputies still with us, as is the county coroner who served as interim sheriff after Sheriff James Dickey was killed and before Pusser took office. He has no reason to lie about Pusser's history. Let him RIP.., why?

Many of the people that I have interviewed are getting old now. Paul David English (Pinky Dobson) died shortly after I interviewed him. He knew he was dying at the time. I'm glad that Pusser molded you if you turned out differently than he did. The image that the public sees is far different from what the locals remember of Pusser. Why is it so bad to learn the truth? Pusser appears to have been much more corrupt than those he was fighting. Go to yahoo groups and find the group crimemyths.

I'm aware of the controversy surrounding Sherrif Pusser's life and career. I was a young man when the movie came out and my "meeting" with him was cursory at best. Certainly not enough to render opinions. Beyond the movie and that single meeting, I am not nor have ever been a Pusser historian. My video was merely an anecdotal recollection from my youth. It bears the same weight of someone who might say, "...I saw Madonna get in a cab in NYC and she looked awful...". Regards...

Sorry to disagree with your recollections of Sheriff Pusser, but people I have interviewed said that he took payoffs. He was part of the problem at the state line, not the solution. Many people in McNairy County suggest that he murdered Pauline, that there was no ambush. Go to Yahoo and look up the group crimemyths to she photos including the wound to his jaw, documents reports etc.
