Your right, I didn't mean high security locks. I meant, ordinary pin tumblers made of better materials and higher quality tend to respond much better to bumping (less likely to break or jam) and leave less evidence of it. Also, if it's done properly, it wont ruin even a cheap lock. I have a $20 lock that I've bumped hundreds of times, and it opens as smoothly as ever.

not true. new higher quality locks have pins on the side of the key which you can not duplicate. which they also have patented keys which you will only be able to get from one locksmith- each locksmith has a different one. he is showing this on a junk lock with $20 nothing good. this also can ruin your lock.

bumpkey testing - i can say myself BEWARE of purchasing bump keys off ebay,i had gotten ripd-off by a seller of the name "michaelfinco" with he e-mail of michaelwfields@hotma il.com that was reason i made my own, beat me for 20 bills and paypal found the seller at fault but couldnt give me money back due to him not having any money in his paypal account.

There is a Glass near the Deadbolt, so it is "supposed to be" more secure to have a Double Cylinder Deadbolt in such instances just in case someone was to just smash the glass & reach in to turn the Thumblatch on a single cylinder deadbolt. Bumping makes the efficacy of that point Moot!

You cut the key into DDDDD55555. If there is only one A1/A2 or B1 it is no longer possible, and sidepins as well. I have made over thousands and thousands MTL cylinders, so I can know. The other thing is you do it in the most perfect position. I want to see you doing it in a door with safetyshields. If I see right, this is the 015 profile. The IA profiles are must more diffecult.

Your right it does take more skill/technique to bump a lock fitted in a door. As you get more of a feel for the lock in your hand, also the fact that its in your hand so therefore you have probably practiced on it anyway. its not really a hack if you ask me. but it does come to show how easy it is to bump a lock, i have experience with lock picking and bumping, it is extremely easy to bump an unmounted lock, but it takes more skill to do on a closed door. with practice it is quite easy. all and all i prefer lock picking over bumping any day. its more of a rush, and i appreciate it much more

well done i never even noticed that myself. lol Your right. If i took the shoulder off i don't think that would matter though as i would go even deeper into the lock. You can bump wrongly spaced lock with this method.

Also, you have to have a freakin blank (and correct keyway) perfectly made (they get destroyed pretty fast) to match the lock. Theres hundreds of different keys at your local hardware store, and thousands more online.

No real thief is going to waste his TIME bumping a lock. A real professional thief would be in and out in less then 10 minutes to reduce the chance of being caught. Lock bumping alone could waste half the time!

I wish they would use things 'bump keys' and or Master Keys on It Takes a Thief on the Discovery Channnel. I suppose a real thief professional theif would not waste his time bumping a lock. He could just quick laminate a window with a window with duck tape(less noise?) or tint and break it. He could even use a glass cutter making an 'X' on the window before lamination as seen on It Takes a Thief.
