There is a live audio recroding of "Tear it up" though that is amazing. This performance resembles the first performance that Elvis did on TV of the song, before he recorded. The guyitar playing is much like Scotty Moore's there. So I believe that they saw Elvis on TV, before they heard the recording and tried to resemble his performance ??

this is a great clip of the trio ,with "Paul Burlinson " on guitar. if you wan't to see "Grady Martin", you should have a look at "Red Foley"- Freight Train Boogie . As for the "time playing" It is probably mimed. Red foley was a session guitarist for Decca Records ,Patsy Cline etc. This band recorded for the Coral label. Bobby Helms was a decca artist. This is paul burlinson on the trio stuff

When you have someone like Burlison who could barely string 3 notes together in time (check out the youtube Burnette 'Hound Dog' clip) and session ace Grady Martin who was on just about everybody's records recorded at Owen Bradley's studio, 'it sounds like Grady' is a completely valid reason. Go and buy Grady Martin's 'Roughneck Blues' from Amazon - it's a comp of his session work, including some Burnette material - absofuckinglutely identical to tracks such as 'Bird Dog' with Don Woody

Read it and the reasons don't hold water. Coral 's records only show Martin participating in the July 5 recording sessions as rhythm guitar player. I'd trust Coral's official records more than some website. "It sounds like him" isn't a valid reason.

This is one of my favorite songs by them. Hey I have a question, does anyone know how to contact their family? Not to stalk, my grandfather was 3nd cousins with Johnny and Dorsey. My uncle just disclosed this to me a few weeks ago. I had known we were related but I had no idea how and have inquired for awhile before talking to my uncle. It would be great to somehow see if they have a family tree and put it together for ourside,my Burnette tree is a confusing mess.

Anyway there we go,...I thought it was paul for 30 yrs 'cos i just read the sleeve notes..but when i heard the second burnette stuff which is definitley burlison it is so obviously not the same guy i looked into it and..there we go.

about my turntable i think it's a pretty good idea, with some 50's vintage stuff comparing to the rec's im showing. Maybe someday i'll use some of my other systems and cameras. And for your quest about showing records, i'm normally put the records on and showing the labelshot a bit longer, and that's for letting all interested having a glare at the whole disc w a pretty good closeup. Hey Lynchburg, You might wanna consider investing in a better sound system if you plan to continue this line of entertainmment. Sounds a bit "tinny" on this end. Kinda like the crystal radio kit I had in the sixth grade. And why do you make a big deal out of showing us how to put a record on a turntable? Seems pretty simple. Thanks a MILLION y'all for all the nice comments received. May interest you to know that I originally cut this track in jan. '71 and re-edited it 5 years later for the UK Sonet release. Cut in a makeshift garage on an old beat-up Tandberg reel-to-reel machine, using a 1960 Hagström 'plank', a 1965 Supro lapsteel and a cheap German made Lefima snare drum with an attached cymbal the size of a normal dinner plate, I ain't fakin'! Holy smoke, those were the days!! Stay wild, cats & KEEP ROCKIN'!!

My dad has been using a single mic with his band for several years now and it is really incredible. You don't have to worry about someone who doesn't know you, what you like your band to sound like or bluegrass in general messing up and making up sound like junk. It is hard outside to get the best sometimes from a single mic-but I think they could have been helped being a little more tightly bunched. My dad's group is and you can always here everything just fine.

I play upright,we have been using a single mic since 2002. Sometimes it's ok,but my bass even with a pu is never heard, just like the lady's in this video is not heard. That was my point. I don't get why everyone thinks this way of playing and amplifying (yes that's what it is folks...yikes electricity in bluegrass!) the band is the best. Moving in and out all the time when you could be playing, thats what I meant about the zoo. It had nothing to do with the fine folks in this video

Fats, Bo, Chuck, Little Richard [Who are all still alive] are the corner stones of Rock n' Roll. Elvis was the beneficiary of marketing a "black" sound to the white mainstream. Nice. More quick then fast but the kid has excellent field vision. If his parents stay on top of em and keep him on the right path you never know how far he could go. Good job though kid. Very nice. What a great clip! It's rare to see Carol sing gospel and who better to sing it with than Dolly. Thank God the Ryman was restored after this taping and is now consistently voted on of the top theaters in the U.S. and is a Tennessee treasure. Dolly is also a TN treasure! Thanks for posting.
