Within two years (1881) the Utes were out of Colorado. There were much mineral resrves that the whites wanted.That was a lot of writing to make a point. what you think it has, and has nothing to do with following the god of western people. While on the trail of tears, the Cherokee could not always give a proper burial. And therefor they made an own translation, an own version of this song, to sing in honour of those who died. And that is why still many of the Cherokee and Natives sing this song. This is a song of honour for them. And as for the gods remark, we have the gods, the earth and sky. Don't assume I have no knowledge on my own gods.

I live in the Netherlands and none of my relatives were involved even slightly with the murder of natives. I will not lose, my soul is in every sense free of hate. Although I don't live on a reservation, I can offer my opinion. Hailing from three tribes(Cherokee,Blackfoot, Sioux) I can confidently say the following. So long as you treat native americans with respect, you will recieve it in return. Most tribes don't see your ancestors as enimies. Considering that they had nothing to do with our slaughter, it makes sense. Historically Canada treated the natives MUCH better than the U.S. The "Indian Agent" is there to make sure the indians don't thrive.

"moving on" is just a nicer way to say "turning your back on" I can and never will move on, not until my ancestors are avenged. That being said, I was more offended by the blaspheming by those who sang it, than i was about it being in existance. There are too many descandants of the natives that have turned their back on their culture. I have done no such thing, and the Gods have rewarded me for it. Of course the reward was preceded by an enormous amout of pain, but hey, nothing's free.

Nope not a princess, a cheif actually. His name translated to "under the sun" or something akin. And you are mistaken. There is still hatred for what happened. Death is not, nor has ever been the end. The native americans who were killed by christianity were never allowed to enter the afterlife. Nice vid, I know jeeps are that tough, I see it all the time. Why do you think there is always a commanche or a cherokee running around in the back of a scrap yard hehe, anyway.. I still think failing an inspection is hardly an excuse to scrap these vehicles. Basic welding, sheet metal and some steel stock, is all you need, there the easiest vehicles to fix! Mines an 88 owned it since it was new.

I used to live three doors down from Chris Potter in Columbia, SC when he was just a child. He was very lucky in that his parents knew what he had at an early age. One night, when he was 13 or so, he played five respectable choruses of "Cherokee' and stunned every body. this is STILL my favorite song of all time. Oh, nice job Scott. This is a fine example....

I've listened to Scott's album "Radio City" where he also plays Cherokee... and he does a few of the exact same licks in the exact same places. The piano player, Wiggins I think, is also doing some of the same comping patterns as he did on the album. I certainly don't object, because it all swings like hell, but I can see how some jazz purists might get a sour taste in their mouths.

I have been an avid jazz fan for nearly 60!!!years and played jazz tenor sax for most of that time...I agree that Mike Brecker was a superb technician.....but he could not ride circles around Scott.....Scott has that thing called soul...his changes swing all through this number....maybe different to Mike...but Mike would have a job to match Scott playing this style 0f jazz

yes, Bob Mintzer is cool - and a brilliant guy to boot!!! All of the great tenor players have their own unique "thing" - Scott does things for me that Dex never will, but Dex is still my 'god' - as is 'Trane, and the Prez........they're ALL special, in their 'own sweet way' !! It's what falling in love with the tenor sax is all about.
