By: ficote72. on 30 Nov 08, 17:39:12
what about the banks? for example citigroup got more than a trillion since 08 started and it is a bank own by a saudi.
By: YesMrRight. on 29 Nov 08, 16:20:16
Please give them $25b for bailout (or ransom be more appropriate?) 1) give each of the CEOs $200 millions (that is a total of $600 millions) to kick them out of the companies. (if they can't make money for the companies, why pay them? No logic at all.) 2) Then use the remaining sum to... whatever you like, distribute amongst the big 3 nuts. 3) Beggers with class, you can buy 3 Jumbo Jets & get a one way ticket to the moon. Don't show your ugly faces anymore. (happy) 4) Sick of them.

You're right. Thats what I thought. It's PATHETIC. Stop and imagine that the congress has a certain reason to act this way. I believe the autoindustry WILL GET the money. Thats for sure. But...not...rightnow. And there is reason for that. Think about it!
By: Bassplayingboy. on 29 Nov 08, 02:33:15
For God's sake I want some bailout money - I need a new truck. I say let them fend for themselves or fail. These idiots deserve to fail. They CEO's do not know how to run an effective company. They are idiots. Why put our tax dollars in the hands of bankers and auto companies - this is just a band aid. The only way to get us out of this mess is to help create jobs - we are a consumer based econonmy. Please call your reps and congressmen. This nonsense has to stop!
By: gadee1118. on 28 Nov 08, 18:34:59
Here's a reorganization of brands; GM; Eliminate Pontiac, Buick, Saturn, Saab & Hummer Ford; Eliminate Mercury & Volvo Chrysler; Forget about them. Shut the junk down NOW !!!!!!!!!! When all is said and done their would be 2 US automakers that will produce better built vehicles as leaner companies.

By: heffe2007. on 27 Nov 08, 18:37:28
YAY LETS GIVE CROOKED AND BUSTED BANKS $700 BILLION DOLLARS TO BAIL THEM OUT OF THEIR OWN POOR MANAGEMENT!!! but why the hell would we give the back bone of our industrial sector 1/28 that amount; it makes no sense to help them in their time of crisis. so what if its a much smaller amount than the banks 'need'. This is exactally what congress is doing. It's pathetic and frankly I'm ashamed and disappointed at the fact that these are our leaders. SHAME ON YOU WASHINGTON, SHAME!

By: HammockTimeNow. on 26 Nov 08, 23:40:00
I am considering that production volume would not change, regardless of the labelling of the model. I also believe that there needs to be extensive renegotiation of all terms for contracts, inclusive of limiting retirees' benefits and eliminating current pensions.
By: mitchkramah. on 26 Nov 08, 23:39:19
The union would also need to either take a massive paycut or vote to dissolve itself altogether. The lack of government protection that forced the workers' hand in forming the unions to begin with is now gone. Thanks to unions, modern law now offers the same protection that workers have fought to get. But now the Auto Workers Union is corrupt and unneccesarry. No other automakers with factories in this country have a unionised labor force. The big 3 need to share in that in order to compete.
By: mitchkramah. on 26 Nov 08, 23:29:24
I dont see how there could not be layoffs. Although the 3 companies are big, a vast majority of their vehicles are essentially THE SAME VEHICLE with a different body and nameplate [Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, H2 Hummer, Cadillac Escalade]. The 3 need to downsize themselves and focus on vehicle quality over quantity. I dont think GM can continue operate as the mega-conglomerate of Chevy & GMC & Cadillac & Pontiac & Saturn & Hummer & Buick
By: jvids. on 26 Nov 08, 17:43:16
All these people that say, hey let the auto industry fail, what they dont realize is that if millions of people lose their jobs then YOU will probably lose your job because there is going to be no one left to buy whatever goods or services your comapny sells. $700 billion to banks that created credit out of thin air and your going to cry about a govt. loan to the auto industry that actually manufactures something, damn near the last thing that the USA actually makes?
By: scotplaya. on 26 Nov 08, 12:04:35
If the bailout is possible who will handle the money? Of course the CEOs.
By: HammockTimeNow. on 26 Nov 08, 05:55:06
where did you ever get the idea that there would be layoffs? Do you understand anything about labor management?
By: Kold2market. on 25 Nov 08, 19:33:50
They should have sent UAW leaders to ask for help instead of the CEOs of the big 3 flying in their private jets... UAW union leader negotiate dpretty good contracts with GM/Ford/Chrysler they would have done a bettre job asking for help here too... At least there would have been more sympathy for the UAW working men&Women who's jobs are really on the line here.

P.S. I drive a Ford (when it starts)
By: UnconcernedCitizen. on 25 Nov 08, 13:11:22
The automobile industry should be allowed to collapse. They are not capable of building a decent car. They have allowed foreign manufacturers to pass them in terms of quality, value, and innovation. Oh well. Sounds like most of America.
By: GammaRay1111. on 24 Nov 08, 18:51:55
So in a sense they shouldnt have told the public about the 700 billion dollars of taxpayer money they used to bailout the banking system. A good portion of that bailout still went to executive bonuses.
By: loadi2. on 24 Nov 08, 11:02:52
big three ceo"s SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT IN THE WOODS AND HUNG...BIG DUMMYS
By: wwwwHappyNewzcom. on 22 Nov 08, 19:36:07
i agree
By: mitchkramah. on 22 Nov 08, 17:37:34
Even if the US bails out the big 3, there will still be massive lay-offs; its simply innevitable at this point. The 3 companies are far too big and equally as incompetent to succeed at their current state. GM should be broken down into Chevy and Cadillac (Hummer should remain purely as a military commodity), Ford should be Ford and Lincoln, and Chrysler should be broken down into Jeep (their one and only brand that has any international staying power) and possibly Dodge if the market permits
By: movement26. on 22 Nov 08, 02:38:59
A lot of people are saying screw em and let em sink...but it is the thousands of ordinary Joes who really get kicked in he teeth...those 3 cocksuckers walk away with golden handshakes....heads they win tails they win.
By: wsdyer45. on 22 Nov 08, 01:50:11
I say start from within your own company. Sell the jets, take pay cuts, slow production down. Even tho the workers will not be making what they did make for a time, at least they will have a job. And the CEOs, make them live off the same they expect their workers to live off of. And please make some changes! Go back to the drawing board and start over with designing cars that we want! Oh!! And no bail-out!
