A younger brother has served as a senior member of the private office of the Dalai Lama and his wife has served as education minister. The second wife of a brother-in-law serves as the representative of the Tibetan government-in-exile for northern Europe and head of international relations for the government-in-exile. All these positions give the Dalai Lama's family access to millions of dollars collected on behalf of the government-in-exile.

1. When did any country besides colonial Britain ever recognized Tibet as an independent country? Show me some documented proof. I've never seen one myself. 2. I'm talking about the 14th dalai lama's immediate family: an older brother served as chairman of the Kashag; A sister-in-law served as head of the government-in-exile's planning council and its Department of Health; Their daughter was made a member of the Tibetan parliament in exile;
By: ESleeper. on 18 Sep 08, 12:47:27
1. Nepal, Mongolia, Britain, Russia, Taiwan, India, US all recogniz"ed" Tibet as a legitimate Country. Although besides the first two, the rest have now changed much of their stance. 2. "Dalai" is a title not a family surname, hence there is no Dalai family. Unless you're referring to his close group of supporters. 3.The arguments against Dorje Shugden is actually agreed upon by many Rinpoche and believers. Although outlawing it is hypocritical for Dalai in terms of Religious freedom.

Google on "Brian McAdam".
By: lc36163. on 03 Sep 08, 14:34:08
The US based Pew Institute doesn't know how to conduct a meaningful survey? Educated by the government? It's called a secular education; something Tibet never had when the dalai ruled as god-king. If Tibet was in fact ever sovereign, it would have been recognized by at least one country outside of colonial Britain from 1200 - now. This isn't the case. The British empire also claimed India+Nepal around that time. Recognizing Tibet as sovereign is just one step before colonization.

Google "FRUS 1964-68 330-339" Google "Friendly Fuedalism - The Tibet Myth" Google "The Strait Scoop by Bevin Chu" Learn the truth behind the clock of peace and democracy. this guy's good cop bad cop act is not fooling any intelligent person!

Don't mislead yourself. Tibet was never a legitimate, recognized country, period. Show me one documented reference outside of colonial Britain that says Tibet was ever a country, I'll shut myself up! It wasn't free either! dalai was a feudal theocratic ruler. 90+ percent of the population were slaves (if you play with semantics, serfs)! Even today, the "exile" Tibet government in Dharmsala isn't free! It's ruled by the dalai family. And to keep his power, dalai has outlawed Dorje Shugden.
By: pemsam. on 03 Sep 08, 11:04:08
Dalia lama is who people dream of, nothing of your dirt will effect him for he is pure, holy and noble. keep throughing negative comments to him and he will smile at you with mercy, This is who he is a Bhuddha of compassion. may you be also blessed enough to be born somewhere close enough to know him better in your next life!
By: pemsam. on 03 Sep 08, 10:56:33
Tibet was a free country and it is a occupied country! this is the bottom line! The most uncivilized toretures are going on in Tibet in 21st century. There must be an end to everything and i am glad brave Tibetans are fighting back!
By: pemsam. on 03 Sep 08, 10:50:14
Most of the people who gave approval to chininese govt. are the people who are brought up by your govt. and educated in such a way, Those who doesn't give approval are in danger.. what other choice is there? go to jail or simply doesn't say anything or say in favour of the regime. World knows about Tibet well enough, doesn't matter how much you try to mislead them. Tibetan history is longer than 1200 years and it remained sovereign state after.
By: lc36163. on 02 Sep 08, 00:58:46
1. Recent US poll says Chinese citizens give its government 80% approval rating, highest of any country. 2. None of your own esteemed Tibetans historians agree with you: Melvyn goldstein, Tom Grunfeld, Barry Sautman will all tell you Tibet has been part of China since 1200's. Why don't you people read books instead of pretending to be experts and make up your own versions of history? 3. Sounds like fear mongering to me; if you can't debate on the facts, don't make yourself look stupid.

China is beautiful and its peoples great. ;)But their government is crap and needs booting out and replacing with a more humane one. Also Tibet is not part of China , they just invaded it. China does not listen to the world. For that reason its Dragon will remain dopey !. LOL ps pro Chinese Tibet commenters just seem to be insulting and rude and brainwashed, Shame really.Plus I think you tube have Chinese sensors working for them, as people get warned for slightest thing. The movement goes on
By: lc36163. on 31 Aug 08, 23:49:04
lame? really? is it more lame than your inability to defend the dalai on charges of corruption and cornyism?
By: Freealll. on 31 Aug 08, 22:03:25

europeans colonized africa by reason of saving the africans (through christianity?); when the british invaded tibet in 1913, they said it was necessary to open up trade (through indemnity paid by china mind you). now once again, history is repeating itself; not just in tibet, but in iraq, afghanistan, south ossetia, congo, etc. all places where the western powers have a strategic political or economic interest. but if you ask, they'll say they are there for improve human rights. ha!

Hey smarty, cool down, first of all consult your dictionary, the word accomplishment has several meanings...
By: Gunfleet. on 31 Aug 08, 05:58:48
Only authoritarian morons like yourself have a hard time understanding that these protesters are not necessarily all Tibetan. And "nature's rule"? Last time I checked that sort of thinking justified things like, say, European colonialism in Africa or shoving people into ovens during the Holocaust. Stop being such an idiot.
By: Gunfleet. on 31 Aug 08, 05:52:52
Democracy under the corrupt, oligarchic one party system of the People's Republic of China? You must be an idiot!
By: Gunfleet. on 31 Aug 08, 04:09:56
Good effort at a response. Better luck next time.

"1.3 billion strong China army" I didn't know that the army was made up of the entire population of China (including children and the elderly, apparently). Thanks for betraying your totalitarian views to everyone, though.
By: Gunfleet. on 30 Aug 08, 19:21:33
Then the police would take you to a government hospital and forcibly harvest your balls to make some quick cash.
By: bettertao. on 30 Aug 08, 08:46:44
