That's an awesome question. Wish I knew the answer- my best guess is that they're referring to paper losses on investments. When your stock goes from $100/share to two cents/share, that value evaporates into thin air. As far as real money is concerned, seems to me that if you lose a dollar, someone else gets it.

hi economic moron here... how exactly does "the world lose money"? when "the world lose money" where does the money go? who has it? did they get burned? did the gold get thrown into a black hole?

US$1.5 Trillion? The United States Federal Debt is more than US$10 Trillion for the very first time. Including all other debts it will be US$59.1 Trillion.

The American government has influnce on many americn corporations becauz the foreign policy of the USA is protction of interests of the american crporations! Youtube suports the american ideology, it is an ideological site! Microsoft is too the product of the american governmnt, is the greatest american corporatin, therefore competitors never can surpass this mighty corporation! I'm sorry for my bad english!

With the exception of taxes, and some regulations, there is very little influence in my opinion. Of course YouTube has to put in more work to avoid liability, and MicroCrap has fair competition laws to worry about because the government. Far from sending the entire private sector hurling into foreign markets on a Mussolini style mission for world domination as some would think.
By: 1293i. on 14 Nov 08, 11:31:19
You think that the US government doesnt influence on youtube, microsoft etc.
By: namename654. on 14 Nov 08, 10:05:40
Ah, no I was answering the guy who wanted to know what US still produced. If he can't think of anything the US produces, he is lucky to not have to look at tons of advertisements. As far as proving anything about the USGov, the IT industry has nothing to do with that. The point I am trying to make is that many US corporations are not related to the government. It seems many people from socialists, and former communist countries think they are one when commenting. Banks are another story.

>but I think your mistakenly associating NASA space program with free market. No, I am not. I am just saying that some things can't be done instantly and there are hard times and troubles and times of success and bla-bla-bla. I answered this "I dont exactly see world communications taking place on RussianTube via the CollectiveNet." I supposed that you talk about dominant role that US has in IT now and that this thing proves that USGov is OK and absolutely right with direction.
By: namename654. on 14 Nov 08, 06:40:26
I don't really understand, but I think your mistakenly associating NASA space program with free market. NASA is funded by government, which means that it would not exist without taxes. Free market enterprises, such as YouTube, Microsoft, and GM exist independent of the US government. Many free market enterprises have plenty of money right now. It's the monopolized finance industry in collusion with governments that are now manufacturing global panic for greater profit.
By: rivalrox666. on 14 Nov 08, 05:36:19
Well, that's the only question of money and time. Tube and others were good startups, but after disaster of 90's IT industry obviously was not so strong as in US, and it couldn't lead. But there are plenty of russian video networks now. US will use proton's to fly in space cause explotation period of last shattle is going to an end. I doubt that we need make jokes about "Ke-ke, you even can't build a new shuttle! No money? That's because of your illusion of democracy and freedom!"

By: PutinProper. on 14 Nov 08, 03:43:23
Exactly, what products does US still produce? Main US production, are military and huge debt. Your main export is dollar, and you invest huge part of your REAL production (not that grossly overestimated GDP) to military, to keep all other countries under suppression system. US can't isolate himself because this would mean you have to start living withing your means , making you at least two times poorer!

Europe is past its best days but still has a stable and balanced economy-agriculture,manufacturing and services. But it is now falling back in high tech, especially in telecom/semicon/military.Russia lacks a systematic industry infrastructure.

No it's not.
By: namename654. on 13 Nov 08, 22:12:46
Got a problem with the US? Stop buying their products. Grovelling to an authority to impose stricter laws shows what kind of dependent sheep hail from the EU and Russia. "Oh, please government, bail me out, take more control of my money supply please! I trust you! Do something about America too, they are too efficient!" Go back to gold standard, get these political cunts worldwide out of the plebs pocket.

It's very likely that the average Russian will have less money to spend on imported vehicles as a consequence of this crisis, hastening the bankruptcy of GM. Wall St can take credit for torpedoing GM's slim hopes of avoiding disaster.
By: seseljsrs. on 13 Nov 08, 21:52:54
Western capitalists only want growth so long as they dominate the markets. Otherwise those markets, which often in this case means countries, have to be destroyed using a variety of tactics: war, economic sanctions, and even pulling the rug out from your own economy. What we're looking at today is just an extension of imperialist policies going on two centuries.

Russia accounts for over 30% of of EU trade and General Motors has recently open an assembly plant near St Petersburg. Most of the reasons for this nationalistic posturing is only to appearing strong to their domestic audiences because at the end of the day they both have to deliver a pound of flesh to Shylock from from all those who are economically viable within their respective countries.

Russia asks for united and peaceful co-operation, Iran, Cuba.... BUT NO!!!! USA has to stick with it's allies that are for it's own demise and the rest of the world. US picks the most barbaric retards to defend instead of civilized nations like its self.
By: derkzukenval. on 13 Nov 08, 18:17:16
NewOrder915, don't talk about the US, you degenerate pig. No one here likes you. Even after your 9/11 propaganda, they still like Arabs and Muslims better. Your scarey channel don't fool no one. You are retards.
By: charlessmyth. on 13 Nov 08, 18:12:29
The US alone accounts for $1.5-trillion. A fairer estimate would be about $6-tillion, so far, at $1,000-million per billion. Russia is losing out because the security of its contracts is not as good as in the EU, a critical matter Medvedev is looking into.
By: igorvasilevsky. on 13 Nov 08, 18:05:02
NewOrder915 Support "New World Order" somewhere else, not here. Don't think, that people are idiots.
