I agree man. Bruce Wayne died in that alley with his parents. I think Bruce Wayne (his alter ego) is what Batman wishes he could be, without responisbilities. And even though Grasshopper here gave a great speech, I thin Superman is like Clark Kent because he evnies us. Think about it: everything that is easy for us (having friends, making mistakes, being normal) is nearly inpossible for the Man of Steel.

This is either wrong wrong wrong, or just outdated. Pre 1985 Superman - Superman was the real identity, post 1985 - Clark Kent is the real identity. Clarks powers werent fully realized until he was fully grown and didnt know he was an alien growing up, therefore he couldnt be Superman. Batman is also wrong, he doesnt wake up as Bruce, he wakes up as Batman and to him "Bruce Wayne" is nothing more than a facade he uses at parties and social events

I loved Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Superman. It was spot on. Your assessment about Dean Cain being the worst is also spot on, although he is a good actor. He just didn't look like what Superman should look like. I've always been a Superman fan and I'm there when a movie or TV series is made. One mistake I think they do make is having every movie focus on a confrontation between Superman and Lex Luthor. That was my main gripe about Superman Returns. That and recycling stuff from '77.

Also, meant to add, I've always been a fan of the Adventures of Superman series from the 50s, preferring the black and white episodes over the color episodes. The series had some flaws, the chief one being that Superman was Superpoliceman and crooks that never learned bullets didn't faze him. But, throwing the gun at him was far more dangerous than kryptonite! Still love the series despite its flaws. George Reeves' portrayal still remains the most believable of all actors who portrayed Superman

I like Smallville, but I'm not a fan of that show having Clark Kent played as John Boy Walton. Also not a fan of the show's episodes having a running story line that can sometimes get in the way of the episode. I'd like to see Clark and Lois hook up although I wish they'd change Erica's hairstyle back to the way she's looked in previous seasons. The new hairstyles just don't fit her at all!

I understand that when Superman first hit the airwaves it was intended for adults or family viewing. When it became clear that children were the main audience the scripts changed in that direction, which may explain why the first season had an edge and more complex storylines.

i once knew somebody who listened to music for the lyrics; they were more importaant than the beat or the tune. I don't care much about the lyrics, I just like a song if its fun to turn up and dance to. I think this kind of art is the same way. Yes, i'm sure the message is ultmiately important, but the main factor for me is how it makes me feel when i see it. it's not about the literal content but about some sort of mixture of form, content, and style that creates a reaction within the viewer.

Or maybe it isn't even a sense of contentment, maybe it is that they do not know how to produce anything else. It seems to be an endless domination of ideas or persons; it almost makes the topic that they are discussing nonessential. Personally, the focus seems to be on the act of asserting power or correctness over something that opposes the entity's opinion/form/whatever, and how it is a never ending process of trying to be the biggest fish in the pond.

I agree that the 3 different aspects at the beginning improve each other through some sort of exchange, but what about the ending? The human forms just keep reproducing an exact copy. So once the mixing of the three (whatever you want to call them) is complete, what development from there can then occur? I would almost look at it as a critique of humanity, the dialouge ought to keep improving, but once we have established a balance between 3 areas of knowledge, we are content to be stagnant.

I believe he is saying how these separate facets improve each other. These things eat each other up and spit them out, but after they take turns destroying each other they all become more human. This may not create a proper dialogue between them though, as each part dominates one and is submissive to another. But it certainly says that these parts interact with each other and improve through the dialogue that they do have.

Does anyone think this affects the ideological exchange rather than the intellectual progression? While it could certainly reflect agriculture, technology, intellect... what if it's more of a critique on the exchange of ideas? This would make it something closer to spiritual, mechanical, scientific and how the three interact (or fail to interact?). Both our daughters were in marching band in high school and the director had them play Chicago music every year! About 5 years ago, we took our (then) 15 yr old to their concert, as she was always borrowing our CD's! As for your "Greatest Hits" CD, there are different "Greatest Hits" collections out there distributed by different sources. Your best bet is to get the original albums on CD/online, if you want to have all Chicago's best music. I think their 70's albums are a must-have.

I agree--totally amazing they aren't in the Hall of Fame. Also agree with everyone who has pointed out how relevant this song is today. Dowloaded it off ITunes and my 2 sons, 10 & 12 love it. I used to listen to it when I was their age. Can you believe I got a Chicago "Greatest Hits" CD as a gift and this wasn't on it? Truly a timeless masterpiece! To me 1972 and the Chicago V LP was the beginning of the end. Sure they went on to bigger and better commercial success but they stopped being relevant once they became a vehicle for Peter's sappy ballads. This LP had really radical stuff like Dialogue and State of The Union. Hell Saturday In The Park was like a children's song masquerading as a political statement. I would guess the pressure from Columbia to keep cranking out the hits was too much for them to overcome artistically.
