i know it was the scots that invented it, sorry i was thinking of the lein-croich instead of the kilt. but what i meant was that the irish kilt was adopted as a symbol of celtic identity,and there are often crossovers between irish and scottish, in music etc so again sorry i have misworded my other posts.

every knows that the scots came from ireland, but its from the said scots that the original feileadh mor was invented. irish kilts, and cornish/welsh cilts are all modern inventions as a successful attempt at a garment to promote national pride. if you want to argue with me on that, then you must also argue with brian wilton, el presidente of the scottish tartans authority. i speak scots gaelic and my friend irish, we can understand each other fine. my point being is i already know about it.

sorry i did mean celtic but if you were any good as a historian you would know that scottish gaelic and irish gaelic are linked mainly scottih gaelic with the ulster dialect of irish, also there are irish kilts, welsh cilts and cornish cilts, i am also not the only person to have posted a comment on here about this, if you look at (michaelledingham)'s posts, you will find that many sources conceed that the irish gaels spread to scotland and so their traditions followed.

btw, just so ye know, unless you do already, bravehearts assumption is that scotsmen wore tartan kilts as far back as the late 1200's, which is horribly wrong. they werent seen in the highlands till many years later, only being banned in 1745. there werent even clan tartans till the sobeski stuarts came along =P

im not arguing sir, but im a historian, and in few if any circumstances are kilts mentioned in ireland previous to scotland(ive not heard any). bagpipes are irish and welsh, but the great highland bagpipe which DKM has in their band is VERY scottish. oh and also, scotch is not a people, itsa drink! the correct for of the word scottish is 'scots'. but both are very acceptable. also, gaelic is eitehr scots-gaelic or irish gaelic, both pronounced differently, i think what you meant was celtic.

I notice on the video that there are times that a stunt man is used. It is not something that we caught while watching live in the 60s but is now detectable while watching on the dvd. One has to wonder how many "drop kicks" were done by Mr. Shatner and how many by the stunt man? One thing I know for sure; a stunt man was never used for the kissing scenes.
