Lessons of History Posted by: videohack25
Video duration: 89 seconds Global video hits: 26463 The last time Massachusetts entrusted the Governor's office to the Democrats, one-party rule didn't work out so well. Massive tax hikes coupled with cuts in local aid and services and the budget gap created by a decade of runaway spending still could not be closed. There are consequences to one-party rule. Dukakis lost because he didn't launch his own attacks i.e. Bush's involvement in the Iran Contra scandal, or his failed run for senate where he ran on an anti-civil rights platform

Elevating those who become rich from inheritance and corporate welfare as model "wealth creating" citizens, while demeaning those who were born on the wrong side of the tracks as "people who should be killed"
By: pullybrit. on 17 Nov 08, 00:48:22
It's not for the protection of the so called little guy, but rather the left's constant elevation of the lowest common denominator as a model citizen is what liberalism is, plain and simple. Basically, Dukakis gave away his presidential bid in this debate in '88 as that idiot Ford did in '76 regarding Soviet imperialism.

Certain crimes, like selling drugs, rape and murder should be dealt with with the death penalty. Some people just dont deserve to live, like those wall street financial people who created those toxic deriaviatives that cause the whole world to pay for their bloody crime.
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 15:00:04
2 which does not come as a surprise since it is well-established in the psychological literature that if you put people into war-like situations they can act very cruelly. The guys I am blaming are the Bush admin of 2003. Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, Tenet, Cheney, Bush. All of which should be in jail by now for at least 20 years thinking about what they have done. What you call hate, I call justice. What you call justice I call insanity.
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 14:52:36
well, you probably read it so you wasted time reading it, also someone else might see the wisdom in what I say. Look, what probably set you off is the phrase "rape and kill". I copied that to illustrate that it is a quite strong phrase and that you should exactly NOT use it in a rational argument. I do not say the U.S. military is systematically raping and killing civilians, although if you are a realist you have to acknowledge that there doubtlessly are such incidents.
By: XarisGuitars. on 15 Nov 08, 13:55:26
Wow, you just wasted a lot of time. All I was saying is TAKE IT ELSEWHERE!!!
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 09:09:46
5 presidents and if he would have been true to his word (well in that case, as opposed to taxes, I think it is fortunate he is not and it saves a human life) he would be in the reverse absurd position connoted to Dukkakis, but this time it is reality! Fuck Prescott Shelodon Bush! Fuck George Herbert Walker Bush! Fuck George Walker Bush! and fuck you my simple-minded friend!
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 09:01:39
4 executed. But if a president commits crimes that lead, to say the least, a negligent loss of 4000 lived of own citizens, yeah I think this is a crime and should be impeached. I am not criticizing the troops, I am criticizing Bush (there are cases of civilian deaths of course but a pragmatic overhead is to be expected when you send people off to kill in the first place). Now, if daddy Bush were consistent as is expected of Dukkakis, he should be in favor of capital punishment for criminal
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 08:54:45
3 and I do not see that the U.S. besides wiping Hussein out have done in financial as well as infrastructural aid to help that process. But the war was not the real issue. My main point was simply this: If daddy Bush was so much more consistent and rational in promoting the death penalty than Dukkakis were in opposing it, sure he would not mind see his own child die if he commits crimes that demand for the invocation of the death penalty under U.S. law. Note: I do not say Bush jr should be
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 08:50:24
2 If you say it is morally right to kill a person that has committed murder you are becoming a murderer too and therefore it is morally right to kill you. That is the logical trap that conservatives with IQs under 90 don't seem to see. Referring to your Iraq argument. Yeah, there are more than a million people fucking dead. If there were real progress and they died for a reason I would say it is a fair price to pay, but gee, it will take 200 years for Iraq to develop into a modern state
By: RationalEmotive. on 15 Nov 08, 08:46:47
well, what you call haters are the people in favor of capital punishment and trying to intimidate people who oppose it, like the Mr Shaw is doing here or the person he suggested to him to ask Dukkakis that question. If you want to play rough and make us try to rationalize the abolitionist position (as Scalia and Thomas are doing in bringing up the argument from historicity that the death penalty has always been there in U.S. history and is therefore good) I would invoke...logic.

These debates were terrible because of the awful job the commission on debates did back then with reigning in crowd noise. When each side was allowed to clap, cheer and laugh all the time at answers given, it totally cheapened the whole process. They are an embarassment to history.
By: viper002060. on 15 Nov 08, 05:42:00
seems like a bit of a rude question. a bit too personal ehh?
By: llehman84. on 15 Nov 08, 04:09:40
Prime example of why Democrats have lost so many elections despite having policy positions that are favored by the majority of Americans. Answering an emotional question with a logical answer devoid of emotion doesn't work.
By: XarisGuitars. on 15 Nov 08, 03:34:52
Seems the haters try to find a forum on just about any video. LOL Yeah, the world would be a lot better with Saddam back in power, right?
By: XarisGuitars. on 15 Nov 08, 03:29:09
I'm not sure what your point is, but remember when you point at my country and call us bigots, three fingers are pointing back at you.
By: viperdawg41192. on 15 Nov 08, 01:05:24
what a dangerous personal question. however, i can't believe that he didn't favor the death penalty.
By: nickybabs. on 14 Nov 08, 23:41:35
Classy.
By: Emasgem. on 13 Nov 08, 17:38:36
So he lost elections beacuse of this?? O Jesus... "Dura lex, sed lex": The law is law! If u think that should be a law u have to include also yourself and your dears among those who are supposed to respect it! Dukakis' answer was simply coherent and fair! Sorry friends Americans, it seems that to be fair doesn't suffice in a country full of bigots like yours. peace

stupid, his wife should have divorced him
By: mesa401. on 09 Nov 08, 03:51:20
You're a fucking idiot. Who has raped and killed over a million people? The U.S. military? You should be ashamed of yourself. You are nothing more that koolaid drinking piece of shit. Who voted to go into Iraq? Any democrats? Read some quotes democrats made about Hussein and the threat he was.
