That is the big advantage of playing the same organ all the time. You eventually learn to play "that" organ, with all its idiosyncrasies and querps. Also, you get used to "playing the building". I have never seen any two organs anywhere in the world play the same. Even if the builder makes two identical organs, they will sound much different in different buildings.

Why can't this organ be 'duplicated' around the world? With some contextual adaptation, of course! It's my favorite! And why are there so many churches with terrible, non-reverberant acoustics? Churches don't have to be expensively ornate to have inspiring architechture and acoustics! And why aren't most organs placed rear and center, high in a balcony? This rant applies to both Protestant and Catholic churches!

Correct. The console is not electrical, but pneumatic using Barker machines (hence the rattle you can hear when she presses the keys) I played this instrument myself and it indeed is a marvel how Sophie (she was with me when I played it) controls this instrument. She exactly knows where to find which stop etc. The sounds is not deafening though... it's just sheer beauty :]

I do like the version with the lyrics about the 'modern day Robin Hood' in the end a little better than the version you did, with showing your hands instead of your face, but musically it was phenominal, and there's probably some background to which version is more authentic. Excellent, soulful interpretation of this masterpiece. However, I must mention that I almost didn't listen to it when I first saw the poster's comment "sung better than the original". C'mon, why does everything have to be a trivialized contest? This is a classic of the rock era, written and sung by one of it's greatest songwriters. The original version has tremendous meaning for many people, and will never be "topped". Let's leave that nonsense for "american idol", shall we?
