It's so funny how everybody complains about Labrie. Why funny? Because every cover of DT I've seen, the instruments have been pretty spot on except for the vocals which totally sucked balls! My friend, who sings Quuen/Boston/LedZep style, had the very same opinion you did about James; until he tried singing his vocal lines lol Nobody has the versatility and quality James has. The more you listen to DT, the vocals and understand James' misfortunes the more you'll appreciate him, even live.

Labrie is Dream Theater, just like all of them. Switch him to someone else and it would not be DT anymore. He has a unique voice and he puts his soul into it, very few professional singers do that. Don`t you people ever get tired of this discussion? It`s about time to let it go and enjoy the music.

nice comment but labrie is was trained by the same opera singer that has trained many great singers. i think its not easy to do songs like hollow years then songs like thy father for example. if DT got a different singer who tries to do all the same songs people would realize how great he is. btw i think that dream theater show loads of emotion just listen to "through her eyes" amazing song

your entitled to your opinion, but all these guys (except labrie) are all musically trained at very high-profile academies, and are actually musical geniuses. They can write so many styles of music, so well, and i don't understand how you think they don't have emotion. sure they don't show it physically very much, but when i close my eyes and listen i can feel it man. i know that sounds corny but im passionate about music. whatever though, your entitled to your opinion and im entilted to mine

Here's the recipe for Dream Theater: 1/2 Cup King Crimson 3 dallops of masturbatory riffage 10 ounces of Scorpions-esque fag-drama. Knead it until it resembles hideous Christian Rock camp bands. Then take it, place it in a bowl filled 2/3rds of the way with undersexed notation wonks with no understanding of music as emotion rather than a clinical construction. Finally, bake for 5 years on Youtube, and tada...you have the laughable crew of duechenozzles assembled here lol.
