Mc Namara, may seem like a nebbish, but it's important to see this video, wherein it becomes apparent that had we followed General Le May's advice, millions of US citizens would have died in the Cuban use of field-deployed short range nuclear weapons launched against the southern US in response to any invasion of Cuba itself. This video doesn't show the clip but the larger documentary does, and it's absolutely staggering.

I don't for a moment think that a war could not be prepared for , with the intent of performing an act of compassion or for ethical values. But while that might be theoretically possible, human history has not yet recorded such an event. The closest we usually come is fighting for motivated self-interest / preservation. Otherwise we would be throwing young people at all sorts of preventative wars which we the US "just doesn't do" - (See A problem from Hell)

Unfortunately, it took two Bombs before Japan declared defeat and even then the emperor still did not want to declare it. Fortunately, Japan is an ally today. We should learn from history not to make the same mistakes but never fail to respond to act of war accordingly.

War is inherently immoral. I don'tunderstand why any of you even considered it worthy to expend the energy to rationalize, debate, and opine about actions taken in 1945 and taking stances for and against them 63 years after they have happen. The concepts that go together to moralize war intentionally propose themselves as being supersessive to standard moral and ethical conceptions of right and wrong. The semantics of what happened are irrelevant so long as the war's outcomes cannot be changed.

Dont like the mixing perticularly either. The bassline come in to heavy on the 3rd song. Perhaps usig the percusion and greek drums, leaving the bass and mixing part of the mids also? Just to blatent and not progressive but also to progresive... The timing of the mix is on the wrong loop sets to...

Hi, everyone. i read "Escape from Freedom". it's amazing! i think he knows the truth of human life. how do u think ? & There r some differences between children and adult people. Children live voluntarily.(For them, it's natural act.) On the other hand, as growing up, we think what we should do, and can live voluntarily. My question is whether most people in this world really ignore this fact ?? they live false lives ?? how do u think ?? (i guess so.)

I'm not so sure, but they likely came over either before or after the revolution; but before the Civil War. A lot of Americans think British people are cool, and they love the accents. Just about any person you ask around where I live has British ancestry. I'd say most of us have a positive view.

I see Americans and the british as natural allies. Basically the Americans were like a teenager and the British were the parents. When America gained it's independance, the teenager became a man, and the parents ( Britain ) had to take a back seat. I agree, but sometimes talent and instinct make up for lack of life experience. The young Kissin was incredibly mature in his playing.This performance stands out as one of his best.Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (who seldom made comments about other pianists) defined this performance as outstanding. Some of his performances in the '90s were uncomparably beautiful; somehow more though out and developed than the very recent ones. It's 20 years I enjoy his concerts in the US and in europe!

the point of the movie is trying to find out why the US has such a high number of GUN related deaths (check the figures somewhere and it will show the US doesn't have the lowest crime rate in that category). moore ultimately doesn't really go after gun control, he targets the media. Wow, this is incredible. the only performance I've heard to match it is Leon Fleischer from the early 1960's. Listen to the way the piano "sings" and sounds like an extension of the orchestra. Accompaniment and soloist "bloom" together as one great mass. Arrau's runs and arpeggios flow out in effortless, unbroken phrases. Contrast this with Gould's quirky, halting delivery, which I think is not a good fit at all for Beethoven.
