I'm sad to say this was not as good as I expected it to be. I think Junior Brown is a genius, but this cover left me wanting more. In no way shape or form is this an improvement on Hendrix's versions. Sorry. I love Junior, but Hendrix rules on this song.

gary is one of the most eclectic guitarists around. his career has varied form heavy rock (starting w skid row aged just 16) to jazz fusion style back to rock then blues. so yes he departed from his most current style but i dont think this was too hard for him. graet cover though and i think even vai or satrianin would have trouble matching this effort

Gary grew up listening to Jimi like the rest of us. He loved Jimi liked the rest of us as well. I thought this was a great effort on his part to pay his respects to Jimi. He really departed quite a bit from his usual style. And I don't think that was easy for him! Superb clip!

exactly elld7...Gary Moore doesn't want any parts of the whole "trying to be Hendrix" debate. Moore has played several genres and is a great player. He is merely paying homage to one of his influences and one of the all time greats. I get sick of people saying oh yeah, no way is he better than Hendrix. Nobody is saying he is...geez

I agree with mike8610 when i started to learn guitar someone told me you go through three stages, trying to be jimi hendrix, finding out your not jimi but thinking you might be one day ,and finally working out you will probably never be that good and try as best you can to honour his memory. Peace

first of all...Gary plays hendrix tunes as a tribute to Hendrix...he's not trying to outplay Jimi or be better than Jimi. Hendrix is sacred territory to guitar players and players never say they are trying to be, or be better than Hendrix. Gary just loves Jimi and pays homage...period. They are very different players, and both great.

Mike Matthews built this pedal in 1968 for the Guild company, and also made the exact same pedal under the name "Axis". Later models have a tone control added to them. Later on, Mike Matthews started the production of pedals under the name Electro Harmonix.
Played through a 1966 fender stratocaster into a 1974 marshall jmp 100w super lead amplifier with 4x12 celestion greenback speakers.

Jimi Hendrix kicks everyones ass when it comes to guitar but this dude's not bad cuz he's not as good as Jimi Hendrix... after all he was ranked 1# thru all time i don't believe he was trying to be better then Hendrix cuz it's most likely impossible so the next time u say it was annoyin and stuff think about how good Henndrix is and relize that not this dude or a lot of other guitarrist has no chance of being better but its your opinion. Hendrix was a real genius, Foxy Lady is just an amazing song that lives on, beyond his composer. It leaves me breathless everytime I listen to it... specially in live gigs. You people should search "fballrock" and check out that band, they make the best Foxy Lady cover I've seen in Youtube.

Well - a boring 5 minutes. The drummer and bassist should find themselves a guitarist who cares more about the music than "the look" - they're great! Hendrix wore the clothes because he had the chops. You gotta be able to play it, THEN worry about your idiotic sunglasses and cowboy hat. In this age of American Idol and processed Music Product, it seems that the outfit comes first, but that's not true. And change the title to show it's a cover band. Passing yourself off this way is dishonest.

Yeah, I totally agree with that. As far as his drums go, I am getting in-depth of knowledge every where from his Premier Oyster kit, to his black Gretsch. Believe it or not, I am purchasing old Premier drums and putting them together to create a Mitch Premier oyster kit, an exact replication! There is only one, not really updated, and tbh, kinda shite. Thats great info man! What's the book called? I read a great book by Mitch, published in 1990. The expereince also went to his house in Ealing during the early years of '66-'67. Dont forget, Mitch was only about 19 in '67 so he still lived at home.
