He bumped into Gervais at a party and asked him about the song and took mock offence at one of his songs being compared to what is basically a bad piece of music (I do love the song though lol). By chance, Gervais explained that they were re-recording it the next day for the DVD and Noel said he'd like to be involved. Kinda spooky coincidence.

Went to the shrine in Tokyo for New Years Eve. Huge crowd like this one. 500,000 and then the crowd took a right turn, those watching on huge screens. Coming from NYC, it was hard to beleieve there wasn't one fight, one sound or one scrap of paper left after they left. you can tell jeff is jazzically trained. Look at his soloing style compared to Lukather. Jeff starts with one simple idea and keeps expanding on it until it reaches a highly complex level while steve just plays up and down a couple scales scales really fast (not to diss him cause he is really good).

Jeff Beck has toured the world in support of the last three studio albums he released! "Who Else!" in '99, "You Had It Coming" in '01, "Jeff" in '03. He released a live recording of the '03 tour. He came out with a retrospective tour of his work in 2006. He released a live recording from that tour. He had a half dozen or so shows around the world leading up to the Crossroads gig. He just did six shows at Ronnie Scott's in London a couple of weeks ago! He is out and about. Don't miss him!
