Well, not so much the art of Mexico, but more the art represented her own pain, where her husband (I can't remember his name right now) was more into the art with representing Mexico. We just did a project on them in Spanish class. lol.

No Phil did not write it. He did helped produce it, and that's also him on the drums. He used the same gated-reverb sound on these drums that he did on songs like "In The Air Tonight" and "I don't Care Anymore".

Me gusta el arte y soy ferviente admiradora de Frida Kahlo (como artista y como mujer), tuve la oportunidad de asistir a la exposición de sus cuadros en el Tate Morden de Londres y la verdad que fue sensacional, emocionante, sus cuadros surrealistas parece que tuvieran vida. 1971, rainy day in Gibralter. Small local bar, "Wig & Gown," Parrot, caged on bar, 5 ancient tables with equally ancient chairs plus an antique Juke-box offering mostly long forgotten songs. Except for Edith Piaf's " Non, je ne regrette rien" and the equally wonderful voice of Frida Boccara, "Un jour, Un enfant." The Parrot and I wore out those records and consumed the Scotch that evening. And, I do believe I heard the parrot bid me "Adieu" in perfect French as I went on my way...

C'est pas incroyable, parce qu'elle a gagné. En 1969 il y a eu quatre chansons gagnantes, celles des Pays-Bas, de France, d'Espagne et du Royaume-Uni. Pour moi les chansons neerlandaise et française sont excellentes, mais j'aime pas l'espagnole et la britannique. D'autres chansons qui méritaient gagner en 1969 étaient le Portugal et l'Italie.

J'ai eu la chance de voir Frida en spectacle sur le site de Terre des Hommes, à Montréal, en 1971. Inoubliable. Je ne comprends pas comment on peut se pâmer de nos jours pour Dion et 50 autres chanteuses interchangeables qui n'ont pas une once d'originalité. Frida, Jacqueline Dulac, Monique Leyrac, Mouskouri sont uniques. Quelqu'un peut-il me dire quelle est la différence entre Dion et Fabian? Derrière la technique vocale, où est l'émotion? Enfin, je suis peut-être trop nostalgique...

Yes! That's the word I was looking for 'melancholic' - in a very beautifully sad way. I remember when I acquired the record copy of this many years after it won - I played it to death... Try listening to this in the dead of night with headphones - this really gets to you and gives you goosebumps when you think this went out right across Europe that night all those years ago...

It has to do with the legend, it's not the legend by itself. When the lyric says "Dicen que no tengo duelo, Llorona, porque no me ven llorar Hay muertos que no hacen ruido, Llorona, Y es mas grande su penar" talks about a dead man that falls in love with the legend of Llorona just because he's also dead. It's kinda cryptic: "Salias del templo un dia, llorona, Cuando al pasar yo te vi, Hermoso huipil llevabas, Que la Virgen te crei".

Om ni inte tycker om det sa byt klipp i skärmen da, texten är lite "too much" men det är kanske för att det är ovanligt med en tjej som säger vad hon tycker och tänker pa svenska. Här är en som gillar Frida och denna är låten är ju hur bra som helst, me like! :-) Och visst hör vad man säger, kanske beror på att man är halvskåning själv! :-) Frida var ju också helt suverän i melodifestivalen 2008 med sin låt Upp & hoppa, som borde ha vunnit den svenska finalen! Frida skulle rocka låten med hela Europa och vinna lätt! :-)
