i don't know, you're right. all i know is crispin was all ready sort of a nut job to start with and i've seen normal interviews were he's still jumpy so i can't tell with him. but it's still entertaining.

Crispin Glover? No, he's playing a part, there's an interview where he sort of explains. But he just likes to keep it a mystery. :) People make too much fuss about it. It all doesn't have to be explained to the detail, it's just entertainment. As you see, it's keeping many people busy, so why kill it.

This was a project I did in college at ASU for class. Yes, I also worked at the library, and Betty Glover (an incredibly sweet lady) was my boss. This was way before non-linear editing. It's a bit dated, but still holds up pretty well, I think.

I was 21 when this was made, and I also was into computers since I was 10. There had been few advances from 1976 technology and that the of computers shown here. These were just "dumb terminals" tied to a mainframe. Early GUI's were available (both Mac and Windows), but they were not used here. The COMputer CATalog (SPIN) featured microfische of mainframe printouts of collections catalogged on old mainframes. It took html to push things to the present.

And so for the next 40 minutes, we sat there, and he'd call out one member of his band at a time to play an improv jazz solo while he hardly tapped. SEVERAL people got up and left. You are right, to a point. We are free to seek out information wherever we can find it and we have few limits on what we can seek out. But the vast majority are apathetic and content with whatever is sprayed on them from the networks and cable shows. And what gets sprayed is overwhelmingly government-approved, and in some cases, government-generated propaganda. Operation Mockingbird anyone? The print media is no better. You really need to stop putting words in people's mouths... Nevertheless, you do bring up an interesting point, and I agree that the public is probably stupid/disinterested/naive. But you can't totally separate this from the media which provides faulty and biased information on which they form such opinions! I can understand why people would get turned off politics--and the media plays a Huge role in that. They also still fail to provide balanced coverage. So I have a problem with all three.
