and i'm sure that photo data is intercepted somewhere.. so the spooks know where you've been taking pics. and i'm sure it's logged as well, in the device, and elsewhere. so, be carefull where you take pics, cus HLS might grab yo ass!! still, nice GPS.. but ya gotta think about your privacy. sadly, nothing is private anymore. this is another example.

the gps on the iphone 3g is useless for driving. It's fine for the geek factor (e.g Check this out it can show me the way to KFC) but it can't guide you efficiently in car. Most people would like this turn by turn GPS rather than what the 3G has. I have a iPhone 3G and am pissed that there are no apps for Turn by turn driving. And apple has banned them!!

Well they greatly improved the battery life in the iPhone 3G. Even with 3G and Location Services on all day yesterday (and believe me I was also tinkering with my iPhone all day cause I can't put the thing down) occasionally using both features just to wow my un-knowing friends, the battery was still alive by the end of the day, and I was listening to music practically the entire time. The battery life is excellent.

You've already paid for GPS - it was designed for military use, so taxation pays for it. Skyhook just uses your Wifi and Cell reception like a sonar to work out how far you are from known points; it should just use taking information in, so no cost. But how it receives the location data to know where Wifi and Cell locations are could cost. They could have maps, and Satellite location books stored on the phone, they're pretty fixed worldwide, but do you need EVERY Wifi point on your phone?

Googlemaps can show you the route and track your vehicle along that route in real time. If you miss a turn it will show your deviation from the chosen route. It's down to you to get back on route. If you're brain dead I guess turn by turn voice instruction is important as well as recalculations of the original route due to your complete lack of ability to follow a blue line on a screen :D

The program is called Mapthis. Its free for the PSP, and you need a GPS addon for for the psp, its not built in. Sony makes one, the PSP 290 which in my experience, works alot worse that the other ones that work in Mapthis. I myself use the holux gpslim 236. Its not hard to do if you have like 60 bucks for the receiver and you do a bit of reading on the deniska forums.

The Colorado does have a technical learning curve to it, but it is WAAS enabled (close to 3 meter accuracy). Anything from Magellan is going to shabby, especially their North American customer service department. I never heard of Satmap and will be looking into this brand.

Bei über 90 Metern pro Sekunde würde ich mir gut überlegen, wann und wie oft ich die Spur wechsle, wenn ich in einiger Entfernung schon die nächsten Autos sehe. Ansonsten hast du natürlich recht, aber um eine Gefährdung auszuschließen ist es m.E. in einem solchen Fall sinnvoller auf der linken Spur zu bleiben...

Wenn auf der Spur ganz rechts auch nur ab und an ein Auto fährt, ist es trotz Rechtsfahrgebot erlaubt permanent auf der zweiten Spur zu fahren, und ansonsten war der Fahrer doch quasi nur auf der linken Spur, wenn er überholt hat oder wenn er hinter jemandem fuhr, der selbst den Überholvorgang noch nicht abgeschlossen hatte ;) Das mit dem "nirgends ein Auto zu sehen" sehe ich etwas anders, gerade bei solchen Geschwindigkeiten...

Bonus points: 3m15 - 3m20s: despite being in a very fast car compared to the car with the trailer in front of you: you do wait and check a moment before switching to the middle lane, instead of switching 2 lanes at once, People often overlook (no pun intd.) that, when doing the latter, the angle of the mirror can make one easily overlook a car or two. Nothing wrong with people with fast cars, just as long as they are very aware of their surroundings. You seem to be using the power wisely! :)

The driving test is over 200 questions long in Germany (or at least it used to be) and you can only miss a few. Here it is 30ish. It has to be relatively easy to get a drivers license in the USA because cities are really spread out and public transportation is largely useless (except for places like NY). In Europe, you barely need a car to get around!

Does this work even when you don't have AT&T service (due to being out of range/in mountains/under tree canapy/etc..)? I ask becuase I tried to use iPhone maps while on Oregon coast a few months ago & my rental car had GPS. Hmm, the xv6700 does indeed have GPS, but I am not sure whether VZ blocks it or not. Guess I'll find out. I can see that as possible, since the vast majority of VZ phones don't do Java (only crap BREW) with the exception of most of the Motos and of course the 6700...possibly a couple more models. Probably my real mission is to get live GPS navigation working on this phone- then it would be perfect.

I really don't know much about computers, and never took a class. ubuntu can be learned, people have to want to break the microsoft cycle. Of course, if you don't play games then you get work done, and linux don't play games (save for cedega and then it plays anything you want).
