Okay nice info but we now have 1.3a,s,c... so be sure to match up or aways go with 1.3c and up and your covered for those whom simply aren't sure wgich is best or needed to cover all bases. I use 1.3c to cover everything. And plan to pay a bit more then 20 bucks. Not many under 23 or so. Its all about the send sigs and recvg sig abilities of that unit (s). Keep in mind digital is cleaner but not always better.

Yes, you will basically get high definition resolution which is basically the best video quality you could every want. Games will look so realistic, sharp and clear through HDMI, you can also use Component cables for high definition videos but you will only get true 1080p through hdmi.

Yes, that's right. You can get 720p or 1080i using a new Xbox360 Component cable and I've been told that it can actually output 1080p. It's just that nearly all hdtv sets refuse to accept a 1080p signal via Component because of DRM restrictions. Using a new Xbox360 Component cable you can also run an optical lead (for 5.1 audio) to the input hole on the molex, the part of the component cable which attaches to the Xbox360. Btw, I have yet to see a 1080p Xbox360 game. They're all 720p.

This is now obsolete. The component cables that come with the 1st gen 360's support 480p, 720p and 1080i. The newer gen 360's have an HDMI out and supports up to 1080p which is true HD. This device is useful only if you want to connect your 1st gen 360 to a Display that ONLY has HDMI input to a max res of 1080i.

I say component is better because on HDMI you can have problems hooking your source to both an audio receiver AND your display. Component video is seperate from the audio, not everything in one plug.

Try HDMI and component-video outputs separately and see if one looks better than the other: use the one that makes the best picture on your set. Though component video can pass a 1080p signal, it isn't commonly enabled because it lacks the HDCP protection codes. Use the HDMI connections which will pass the 1080p signal plus the digital protection codes. If the component-video outputs were allowed to pass 1080p images, then you'd have to compare to see which one produces the better picture.

I also forgot to mention the HDMI plug is a horrible mechanical design the female end the end in your expensive TV is extremely fragile compared to other connectors. Who ever invented the plug must have failed mechanical engineering 101. It should be noted the chinese media devices often don't have HDCP this is one case where the cheap knock off is superior to the name brand product. Also one can buy a box to strip the HDCP signals failwood can't do nothing since the algorythm is cracked.

Yes, you may use component video cables or HDMI cable to carry 720p. Some up-converting DVD players or HD cable boxes will not output component video and HDMI simultaneously; you have to use one or the other. Remember, component video (usually three cables, red, green and blue) carries just the video portion (no audio). In theory component is able to transmit 1080p, but Hollywood lawyers demand that component outputs be limited to 720p (or 1080i) because HDCP digital content protection can't be used. If 1080p was allowed over component video, it would be easy to copy. HDMI connection though does pass 1080p and HDCP prevents piracy. I felt it was clearer to state that component will pass 720p or 1080i, but that you'd need an HDMI connection in order to pass 1080p to a connected device.

For runs of 6 feet or less you can use any inexpensive HDMI cable. There's no need to spend more than $10. For longer cable runs--7 to 20 feet-- there theoretically may be a difference in more expensive HDMI cables. That's because the lengths of the individual wires within the HDMI cable must be very precisely cut, otherwise there may be digital timing errors introduced by the unequal lengths.

the yellow cable will only dispaly 480i(SD). Its best 2 buy a xbox 360 pro that has component cables inside the box or you can buy component or HDMI cables separtley if have an arcade 360. the red, white and yellow cables WON'T give you EDTV(480P)or HDTV (720p/1080i, 1080p)resolutions. And if you buy a Blu-ray player or a ps3 for your HDTV you'll need to buy a separate HDMI cable

I have a LG plasma set to movie mode had the 360 connected with the hdmi and comonent cables, set to 1080P widescreen intermediate on both. I used a DVE calibration disk. The picture was perfect on both connections and looked the same to me. But remember not all tvs handle signals the same way.

PS3 can back up Your files to an external USB hard drive. It can allso take files into the PS3 from the same USB hard drive. Highlight the file and choose backup and it looks for a connected USB media to backup to! You cannot use the PS3 to burn to an external burner. There are no burn options in it. But You have Your pictures on teh hard drive on Your PC, so the obvious is to burn them from the PC.
