The FHS is a pretty good idea, but I think it makes it way too hard to install / remove programs. I don't like having to have an entire package manager program just to shuffle files around. The filesystem should be easier to use than this.

nicely done, I agree - the fact that in Linux a directory (mount-point) could be a SAN drive or just another directory on the local drive vs Windows, where the entire file system has to be on a single device makes Linux so superior

If you're using Ubuntu, you don't usually use 'su' to run commands. You can either use 'sudo' in front of the command or use 'sudo su' to switch to root, then use any command that isn't rm -rf / or something like that.

actually /root is not in /home because '/home' may be a network mount, and root's home folder is useful to have available if you boot up in single user mode where your network is not available.

yea, but in the pc version, u can select more units faster and get the required units or structures selected faster than the 360. plus, it has higher graphics than the 360. but the 360 goes much more smoother in the movement, plus it has shorter load times.

I like the Hierarchy because of their insane abillity to crush any base they attack. Once u get a army rdy, u just attack and its done Novus are good for ambushes but thats only if u get ur flow conducts in good spots Masari and the super powered race but their slow and u cant get much from them not only that, but their heros suck balls Hierarachy i can trust to destroy anything only problem is the begining of the match because the Heirarchry i noticted have probelms wth money XD

Hierarchy = best faction. Their walkers just need to walk over something to kill it. Their heros also have the best abilities. Novus = 2nd best. Their troops might be good attackers but unless you have a line that leads to the enemy they have to walk which will be a waste cause the enemy base is most likely too far to walk and they would just be destroied before too long. The Massari = weakest fraction EVER!!! Stupid abilities, slowest units, and a "hero" that doesn't even fight!! How stupid!!

masari : i dont really think the specials are good but their troops can quickly get the job done... heirarchy : their best weapons are the walkers they work effectivly when they have either saucers or another walker with them NOvus : i have to agree with dojo5, they do have the weakest faction but! The Novus are probably the best faction. They have great movement speed and very powerful units. Not to mention a sniping Mirabel can decimate a walker. There is also the variant/vertigo rush. Or you can spam 5 blade troopers and just have them use their clone ability.

It would seem that "utility" would be the good way of judging the "fitness" of memes: the degree usefulness between the concept ( represented linguisticall by a word or symbol) and the referent thing, action, or abstract. If I had the need to describe a green polka-dotted hippo, I may hatch the meme for "Verdidottopotomus". Newer memes typically represent abstract concepts as the complexity (evolution) of the memes continues.

Dawkins coined the term meme mainly to demonstrate that the mechanism of natural selection is not limited to genes but is a more general principle. The analogy is not perfect (nor is it meant to be), so it won't always line up. As for creativity, there is no direct corollary, but new genes can be introduced through duplication, mutation, retrovirus, symbiosis, etc. Anyway, I haven't watched Nick's video yet, so sorry if I'm missing the point of yours.

Have you read "The Selfish Gene" where Dawkins first coined the term 'meme'? In there he explained it. For one thing, you weren't using the correct analogy. You were talking about selection on organisms--not genes. A gene survives because it has better fitness than it's alleles. I generally talk to the enemy and we set a boundry limit and build up our forces to our top point and when we're both ready we start combat. Really detents on your strategy... I usually use dark mode and play defence until I get the piecebringers... Also heroes are not for attacting, as Orlok, but but tactical strategic use, since mainstream units are already kicking ass... With P.Zeus and Altea you can kiss ass, but need to compine them... Also Dark Armor may mean for me, no losses at all when attacking a base... (At summer I'll get the original version for multi and then, I can really talk...)

One more thing. I want to say that reviewing my comments I don't see myself as optimistic. I am optimistic like Wukdar/dario in that i believe we can do what we can one by one. united faster but it starts with each individual agreeing there has to be a better way. I'm there.

my son came home one day from kindergarten and told me michael in his class told him all about jesus. I said that was what michael believed but not what I believe and that others have many beliefs. Many kids learn from kids a year or two older than themselves, the same misinformation/habits are spread by each successive generation. Kids learn to look up to their elders in the classroom, and learn from their immediate elders in the playground. It is hard, but it can be changed!

Simple yes. Easy no. the hierarchical educational system is entrenched with people who will maintain the status quo and hire lesser skilled than themselves to control to keep things as they are. there are schools outside the system tinged with patriarchal tendencies but better than the common factory school. some charter, most private. The evolution has to come from the family/individual to expand the learning beyond the factory production of students.
