I envy those who were at this concert! This song and this song ALONE would easily ruin 95% of those bands that claim they are 'f*ckin metal'. Not to mention Troops of Doom, also by Sepultura. \m/ Also the sound of this video is better, more brutal and clearer and anything else I've heard live. You can hear the crowd singing along too - BIG plus! 5 stars would never be enough to justify this video!

When comparing to other series, not one is yet to meet the same complex way of thinking that has aroused in GitS. Although yet to see 2nd GIG and the old originals, which I hope to see til the end of this year, I can state already that what I've seen so far from S.S.S. and 1st GIG, this could very well be treated as a modern masterpiece. Not would officials treat it as what it truly is, thy when have officials declared anything not gaining something upon it. A GitS fan knows this far too well.

Excellent question to toss out for that view. I almost have to acknowledge it as more in that it's a masterpiece in terms of animation -and- how in depth the basic story is, which makes it more of a 'culture' than a simple one track cartoon. 2nd GIG is the better example of this IMO with the three forms of episodes it has, all linking separate parties into one. GitS is similar to a long movie with an in depth social plot, only longer, which is why GitS is one of my favorites. Nice question.

I'd say the same, good way of going more deep into it. Aswell, if you look at other complicated animes like for example Ergo Proxy (really recommend it for GitS fans), you will start noticing a great difference between animes and cartoons, where cartoons are more about entertainment and animes more about society. Sure, many people might think "Nah its just cartoon because it's done with pencils and not with a camera". Sure, but heres my question for those guys. Is art a cartoon?

Agreed, it's so deep and encompasses so many aspects a person could speak on about Ghost in the Shell for days and still go. Just the basic concept behind a Stand Alone Complex is so vast it even brushes such opposite extremes as individualists and social dependents at once somehow. All at once a giant paradox, and not. Nice way to sum it up, more a type of culture than a cartoon.

The guitarist is simply the 1 writing most of the music,which dwarves everything produced by DT since Awake in terms of quality and creativity.I've seen the drummer live,he's just perfect and tries not to do too much noise,he's especially subtle in using cymbals.Then he can be extremely loud and fast too.The bassist does his job,the keyboardist puts the atmosphere without boring show-off.The singer is as good as Allen live(means Labrie is light years behind).Most underrated band I know of.

the guitarist does perfectly well for the song, its meant to be technical, the bass is insignificant in this song but if you hear there album version of encyclopedia he does some VERY interesting things, the drummer has great grove, i didnt see him mess up once, he's damn near flawless, and i kind of agree on the vocalist but he's deffinitly not the worst i've heard. the keyboardist is ok but Jens, Jordan, Mikko, Pinella, Moore i think top him pretty easily.

Andromeda is progressive metal. Regardless of where the term may have originated from, Andromeda conforms to the modern usage of it. While progressive metal was influenced by progressive rock, obviously not all progressive metal acts will display every facet of progressive rock in their music. Some may focus more on odd time-signatures. Some may be more avant-garde, or use less common instrumentation. I'd argue one band would not need to show every last facet to be 'progressive'.

Dude, you're out of your league here. I respect that you're keeping to the more classic form of prog, probably referring to bands like Yes or Genesis. Maybe it's more technically correct to label Andromeda as "progressive metal." But in shorthand, most just say "prog," which is characterized by odd time signatures and evolving melodies. Hold on, I hadn't listened to this song when I replied to you just now. THIS song is actually pretty progressive but it's the first song with Andromeda that I've heard to be actual prog! I've listened to pretty much every other Andromeda song on YouTube and this is the only one that would be categorized as prog. So what I said before does not apply to this song. Metal/Power metal. The genre "Prog. metal" has been tossed around a lot the past years. The bands who formed this genre were often very talented musicians who wanted to try new stuff N "forbidden" which wasn't just playing in odd time signatures, that has been done for centuries N more so it's not a prog-association. What is prog-associated is songs that evolve constantly moving from genre to genre/feel/tempo/mood/etc with often lengthy songs N solos. None of the above are found in this music.
