Bin ja doof, es geht rein theoretisch noch viel einfacher: Einfach die stöchiometrisch richtigen Mangen von KOH und NH4NO3 mischen (massenverhältnis NH4NO3 : KOH ca. 10:7), eindampfen (natürlich nicht bis zur Trockne, sonst entsteht Nitrit), abkühlen - fertig (Das Nebenprodukt NH3 ist ja ein Gas)!

Hey, Problem damit? Das ändert nichts an meinem chem. Verständnis und Intresse an, wiedu es sicher nennen würdest "ernsthafter" Chemie. Was kümmert es dich eigentlich welche zielgruppe ich mit meinen Vids ansprechen möchte, zu viel Zeit? Leider hast du keine eigenen Vid`s, sonst könnte ich mir mal ein Bild machen wie ich in Zukunft korrekt poste, oder hast du da nen Tipp für mich?

Hm, das würde den Vorgang sicher beschleunigen, allerdings hast du denn wieder ein Carbonat in Lösung welches evtl. das Nitrat verunreinigen kann. Theoretisch sicher möglich, aber ich bleib beim Kaliumsalz, hab mir zwar auch etwas NaNO3 nach diesem Verfahren hergestellt, dann aber für andere Zwecke ;)

Hmm, mir ist grad eingefallen, dass man (vorausgesetzt man stellt NaNO3 her) einfach etwas NaOH (leicht zugänglich, man muss ja nur aus Rohrreiniger die Alu-Kügelchen entfernen) zugeben kann, wodurch das NH4+ deprotoniert wird und abdampfen kann. Das Nebenprodukt Na2CO3 ist ja auch bei tiefen Temperaturen löslich, bliebe also beim Umkristallisieren in Lösung. Aber mit dem störenden Natriumgelb hast du recht, das ruft bei mir böse Erinnerungen an den Kationentrennungsgang hervor :D

Thx, also das Austreiben des NH3 wird man kaum beschleunigen können, das dauert einfach, meinen Rührer habe ich mir selbst gebaut, ohne diesen würde es kaum gehen. NaNO3 könnte man natürlich auf gleichem Wege herstellen, allerdings ist dieses hygroskopisch und überdeckt jeglichen Farbgeber mit seinem Natriumgelb, aber allein wegen seiner Wasserziehenden Wirkung fällt es für mich weg, das kann ich nicht ausstehen ;)

Nice Vid! BTW: Wäre es nicht einfacher, NaNO3 herzustellen? Denn Soda kriegt man ja überall. NaNO3 ist zwar etwas hygroskopischer als KNO3, von der Sprengkraft aber doch annähernd gleich ?! Das Doofe ist das 3 Std. lange (NH4)2CO3-Auskochen, denn einen KPG-Rührer hat man ja nich einfach so zuhause und den Küchenrührer will ich ungern benutzen. Kann man das irgendwie beschleunigen?

did you buy that kn03 of ebay? it looks suspiciously like the packaging from wolfeyes* on ebay,i must warn you his kn03 (despite his claims) is extremely impure and contains traces of chlorate which makes it hygroscopic and quite unstable, just a warning . and great video :)

yeah found that out, but if you cook it just long enough its fine...lol...when my first batch worked i tried a longer bach, whihc lit up...stupid opened the microwave door to put it out with y fire extinguiser...bad idea....i just gave the dumb thing more oxygen :P

i REALLY wouldnt reccomend that!! it could set it off... just put it on some sort of heater mate, stay safe, i nerly set fire to my shed making this stuff lol i tested some by the rest of it, and a spark jumped... just a single spark, and cus its oxidising, its fukin hard to put it out!

ok, nice video, but i do have a question. I have found that making a smoke bomb with KNO3 and sugar can be made into a paste with water. Then i put it into the microwave for 20 seconds, allowing the mixture to still be liquidy so i can pour and shape it, but after 5 mins of drying i have the perfect smoke bomb. So after that long explanation, do you think i could dry out the paper in the microwave?

Though I don't use Touchpaper (what this is called) very often, this is the correct method. Placing the wet paper over a window screen with a space heater above\under the paper drys it out very quickly. I normally super-saturate the KNO3 solution so it really gets the paper coated in KNO3, but then I wring out the paper by sqeezing, leaving me with a perfect burning touchpaper that drys in minutes, and leftover solution for more touchpaper.

I believe for the smoke bomb mix all you have to do is heat the mixture up to about 161 degrees Celsius and the sugar will decompose into caramel. if you heat this mixture under that temperature with corn syrup you can create what's called rocket candy.

i tried it,thx for the basic design mine went o about 300 feet,not as high as i like but ima work on my e-match (i think the ignitor got stuck in the rocket ,decreasing its flight higth),very nice 5 stars and favorited,btw you should try and make a rocket-launcher with some pvc and that rocket,maybe add a report,i could give you a good design for 1,or a good comp for the report

i got 5 pounds of pure kno3 off of ebay for 10 dollars from philsummers. he deals with pyrotechnic supplies. i have made many smoke bombs and rockets and it is really fun for paintball. i cook the rocket candy by dissolving the ingredients in water and then boiling it over a propane stove until dry. it is really neat and you can make rocket smoke bombs when you launch a small motor rocket with the smoke bomb(caramelized sugar and kno3)at the tip for distractions.

Hmm keine Ahnung.... Konnte da jetzt auf die schnelle auch mal nichts zu finden... Wenn dus rumliegen hast probiers doch aus (probier vorsichtshalber erstemal ne kleine menge, vllt. kommt ja was gefährliches bei raus, glaub ich aber nicht, aber sicher is sicher^^) ansonsten hol dir einfach KNO3, is relativ billig außer du holst es bei ebay^^

thanks for your response. Youve right. I wanted only to save my KNO3 because of that i mixed only 40%. But i wasnt knew that it has an effect on the intensity. next time i use again 60% KNO3 ----- German translation ----- Danke für deine Antwort. Du hast recht, ich wollte halt nur etwas KNO3 sparen, deswegen habe ich nur 40% reingemischt. Wusste nicht das es Auwirkung auf die Intensität hat. Das nächste mal werd ich aber wieder 60% nehmen

hey mate ill tell you what i do i use a 25mm pvc pipe that is 95mm long and i have a kitty litter plug on both ends that is 15 mm long and i use 60grams of kno3 and 33 grams of icing sugar (or 2 oz of kno3 and 1 oz of icing sugar) and i also compact it very hard i was having the same trouble as you and i found that the harder i compacted it the more thrust i was getting...also to launch it i strapped a piece of dowl to it and then stuck the dowl in a pipe so it shoots out of it with ease

Excellent video and work on your rocket motors. It looks like you need a little extra power just at the begining take off. Try putting some iron oxide in your mix, if possible just at the begining of your motor. I think this will get you air born a little easier. You probably know better than I do, but it is just a suggestion. Nice job though, keep up the good work.
