Misawa is one of the greats. Morishima is an up and commer in the NOAH ranks. Misawa has had some stinkers in the past year or so, but the build up to this match has been promising during the tour. Wow! That was a freakin' match! Hope TNA and WWE are taking notes! 100% agree with Manny Biggz that striking blows make very "legit" finishers. The last 3 minutes of that match were better than anything I've seen in a while. Great pacing, back and forth and a fantastic finish. The way a match should be worked.

A elbow smash can be a more the legitimate way to finish a match. In Japan, they treat striking moves the way they were meant to be treated. Elbows are one of the hardest parts of our body. I see nothing wrong with pinning someone after a flurry of elbows to someone's head. You're supposed to consider the concept of the moves after all.

I'm not big on puro, but I enjoy Morishimas work. Having said that, I can't stand Misawa. I respect what he's done but no part of him appeals to me. That and the fact that he couldn't sell ointment in a burn ward. He just flat out is not what he used to be. He got passed by in athleticism and I dont think has ever been charismatic. Just my opinion though I'm sure someone will tell me how stupid and wrong I am.

He had two tryout matches. He also has Johnny Ace and Harley Race pulling for him. There are pics with Him, Vince and Cena together. He beat Haas monday and Noble tuesday. I don't follow Puro as much as I should and he doesn't wrestle for ROH really anymore, so I could careless if he goes. He deserves the paycheck though.

With them building up that Danielson couldn't beat him I would think he would be the one to go over. ROH back at the Hammerstein debut in May wanted the blow off match to take place then but the ppl in NOAH didn't want Morishima to do the job since he was and is still the GHC champ.

I'm gonna have to go with Team Casey here. He has a point, the WWE has a bad history of pushing foreign wrestlers in the company. The luckiest person to have survived the WWF is none other than Yokozuna. That's it. Even though i'm kinda of happy that Takeshi (and yes, i know who he is) is coming to "E", it make me a bid worried how they're going to use him. Especially since they're going to waterdown his moves. And i hope they don't send him to SD! with Triple H being there.

I agree w/ wut every1 in this lil stream of reply's says 'cept one part, Kenta doesn't get murdered here nor in many of his matches. He actually is a great seller and takes hard bumps from hvyweight guys like here or against Kobashi (great match),he always controls a large length of the match and has a great give n take w/ his opponents. Hes gota good +/-record spite fighting such large dude often. He's kinda like NOAH's Rey Mysterio 'cept with the asain STRONG style steada Lucha. KENTA!!!!

In July of 2006, Ring of Honor again dropped the Top 5 concept, as it had not consistently been used to determine ROH World Title challengers. This was also done when Homicide won the title from him,who lost it to one of those challengers: Takeshi Morishima from Pro Wrestling NOAH. After Morishima won the belt, it seemed that he could choose his challengers, as he defended it (with ROH and NOAH approval) at NOAH's March 4, 2007 Budoukan Hall show against KENTA

Damn right, that's also why Japan loves big ugly "gaijin" champs like Tomko and Bernard with their tattoos and all. It looks so heroic when naturally smaller Japanese wrestlers push themselves to the limit to beat bigger, stronger guys. As for Maru, it's easier for him to bulk up to heavyweight in Japan, since there aren't many Mark Henry or Snitsky size Japanese guys. That's also partly why Misawa as old-ass champ still kinda works. He's a decent-sized guy who can still go (kinda).

My logic is only that skill should be able to bridge a gap between size, but clearly, that's not enough to always get the job done. Guess by your logic, Marufuji would never have been able to make the jump to the heavyweight division, either, huh? Yeah, KENTA often can't get it done, but there's no reason he shouldn't be able to get his licks in, right?

I agree with you basically, but my main point is that the smaller guys like you mentioned win WAY more of the time than they should proportionally. See? But that is because they are usually more skilled like u said AND because, most importantly, the fans like the smaller, better-looking wrestlers more.

So you got your realism. The heavyweight wins. But I see no reason why the smaller wrestlers have to be murdered every time. Power weighed against skill... you do what you can, and you bring what you can to the table. If the smaller guy has the tools to hold his own, let him. You wanna talk realism, but in reality, the bigger man doesn't always win, and he doesn't always win easy.

Just to clarify, I enjoy watching smaller guys WHO CAN GO much more than slow, predicatable big guys. Kane will never have a 5-star match. But think about this, In ROH when Aries, Gibson, Cide (even Dragon) were champ, what would it LOOK like if Batista (who blows), Lashley, or HHH walked in and stood face to face with them. Of course the ROH champs are better WRESTLERS and in-ring performers, but Batista would rip Homicide's arms out of the sockets. Realism is somewhat important.

Of course Micheals is a Main Eventer, but I stand by my comment. I am SICK of seeing monstrous guys CONSISTENTLY lose to smaller guys. In my opinion, there should ALWAYS be a super-heavyweight as one of the title-holders, just to add credibility. When hulks like Snitsky, Mark Henry, Kane, Big Daddy V, etc. lose to the CM Punks of the world, it just destroys any SHRED of realism (and yes I know wrestling isn't realistic). The Mark Henrys should have some belts. Period.

Like Low Ki says... it's not the size of the fighter, it's the size of the fight he brings... by your logic, Shawn Michaels (also a cruiserweight) shouldn't be anywhere near the main event, but he's got what it takes to go in the ring. If you're a capable fighter, it hardly matters what size you are, but the major federations (yes, TNA is guilty of it, too) don't see beyond the weight scale.

Misawa is champ because he is holding the title for Kobashi when he gets back. Plus he doesn't want to put the title in the hands of some of the other guys because he doesn't feel they are over. Akyiyama has not been really great as champ before... low buyrates etc. The reason everything is green is symbolize growth... Sorta to show NOAH is the future of wrestling.

I know Japan is all about kicking out of the big moves and hitting your finisher soon but, come on. I guess maybe becasue I'am trained in the "Old School" way of wrestling a finisher is a finish.

Well folks, Considering WWE is "trial testing" Takeshi Morishima, in some recent dark matches he had. I wouldn't be suprised, to see this guy land a contract. And if so, watch out, my only concern is that they will try and "mold" him, to there wrestling style. They did this already with; Taka, Tajiri, and Kenzo Suzuki. I hope to hell, they don't goof on this guy, with his credentials we shall see...I'm just shocked, that WWE acknowledged, a NOAH Representative infront of the live crowd.

Awesome...I never thought even for an istant that Morishima could beat Misawa here...I was sure that the one to took that title from Misawa would have been Kobashi... Instead, the Backdrop Driver, 1..2..3 and I was like O__O "what the fuck?" But I was really happy, I couldn't stand Misawa any longer...Morishima is the future of Japanese Wrestling and he fuckin deserve this, and as the ROH fan that I am I can say proudly that the current GHC Champion has been a great ROH World Champion before.

HOW SHITTY WAS THAT MATCH?! Wrestling went down the fuck toilet so hard... Can you throw, ONE FUCKING SLAM INTO A MATCH?! For fucks sakes, I dont care about you fake hitting eachother, I know they're both big, but there was an attempt at a suplex, I was expecting a powerslam, or something... but nothing until the end, when vader did some sort of rock bottom variation...I'm sure it has it's own name.
