By: anyaposh. on 04 Dec 08, 20:45:31
This is the truth as is preached in temple.
By: captainblowhard. on 04 Dec 08, 14:27:21
Truth! Styrofoam packing "peanuts" were invented by the mormons. They were created in accordance with the B of M and Joseph Smith's vision that the mormon's would eventually become a bunch of white crap that just won't go away!
By: landsdown44. on 04 Dec 08, 14:17:41
I've noticed that the term "anti" actually applies to mormons and not so much to others who are only guilty of understanting the truth. Mormonism is anti - truth, anti- honesty -, anti - integrity, the real anti's
By: captainblowhard. on 04 Dec 08, 12:36:48
These pathetic mormons who never learned the true history of their church will say that this video is false. Since Hofmann made them all look like idiots, they have not made their historical records/documents available for independent study like they once had. They realize that the jig was up and that any true objective research of the mormons could only lead to the conclusion that mormonism has as much truth to it as Star Wars. May the force be with you, lds'!
By: MarksmanNr1. on 04 Dec 08, 12:06:56
Hehehahahaha...antimormons make fool of themselves, this is so funny!!! NOBODY with sane brain could buy this propaganda.
By: krp1965. on 04 Dec 08, 05:36:50
I thought it was funny. Anti-Mormons are such a hoot!
By: StarWarzFreak92. on 04 Dec 08, 04:42:51
Wow, if I could think of any anti-Mormon and incorrect video, it wouldn't come anywhere close to this one. This is just ridiculous...

By: bobhosta. on 03 Dec 08, 19:31:14
The church was strongly against repeal...But, as I learned at BYU, if there's one thing mormons like more than their church leaders, it's to sneak an occassional drink...66% of mormons voted to get their booze back in 1933...
By: Nashy119. on 03 Dec 08, 19:30:07
So you basically hopped from one religion to another?
By: Nashy119. on 03 Dec 08, 19:24:26
This is actually a better story than all the other religions I've heard, it's more entertaining but shorter. I'm not going to say anything about the belief, the only people who will understand would be those that already know what I'm thinking.

U'd think the church being against alcohol would be enough. But the Lord works through his servants. He knew what would happen when it became illegal. It became so bad that the law was repealed (obviously). Who's to say that if this law wasn't passed it would not somehow be worse? Do not assume that just b/c the issue appears to be a moral one that it is such. We do not always understand the will of God nor should we assume that we do.
By: mysticwindfairy. on 03 Dec 08, 17:25:21
They can make up their own minds. It's merely strongly suggested. As well we cannot assume there's not more than what we see. It's not always about morality. Great historic example: Prohibition. During the years of 1920-1933 the crime rate became terrible. Bootlegging was an every day occurrence. Selling alcohol became a lifestyle for many and yet what happened before the bill was paassed. The church came out and said do NOT vote for prohibition.

I don't blame you for leaving the church really, the stuff that you said you went through as a child, i didn't go through any of that, i think our area is definitely a relaxed LDS area. My brother went out to visit some family in Idaho and when he came back he described some things like that, like no radio on Sunday, extensive early morning scripture reading stuff like that.
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 09:25:31
There are also problems with the church making your moral decisions for you...this marriage issue in Calif has become a "hot button" issue for many California mormons...many of them feel they should be left to make up their own minds about how they feel about it...and they are right...Hinckley would have stayed out of it and left the decision of how to vote to the individual...Monson decided for ALL members to fight gay marriage, it has REALLY hurt the churches credibility
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 09:18:53
On many Sundays, we were assigned chairs and could not leave them for hours...in our church clothes, having to read church "stuff"...not fun for a young child...it really bordered on abuse in many regards. Not allowed to hang out with non-mormons etc..etc...etc.. It's no wonder I left really
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 09:14:54
I'm from a early mormon pioneer family...so I had an extra dose of mormonism...plus, I grew up in California so my parents might have felt a need to REALLY give us a double-dose of church stuff...example, we weren't allowed to change out of our "Sunday Clothes" until we went to bed on Sunday...VERY strict fast on Fast Sunday...I swam but couldn't swim on Sunday even though I was vital to our team...read the BofM 7 or 8 times by the time I was 16...that's only the beginning...it got worse
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 09:09:50
That's probably why I was an AP on my mission...he knew I wasn't going to take any of his shit and he was right...hey, it was cool, I dated my mission prez's granddaughter, a prophets granddaughter, and another prophets grand neice....Like I said, I liked going to BYU
By: DarthKaiser18. on 02 Dec 08, 09:06:16
You said that you got drilled with doctrine at an early age, so then were you born into it or was your family converted when you were young? It is strange about the Anti-depressants though, i think it might be more because of the times that we live in.
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 09:05:52
Like I said, if you're in it because you're trying to improve your life, go for it....just steer clear of the "ONLY true church" attitude and you'll enjoy being mormon a lot more....have better relationships with non-mormons, co-workers, and generally view the world in a much healthier way...Jesus was really trying to teach us to find a way to god directly...don't let your mission prez give you any shit, you're JUST as entitled to god as HE is...he's not MORE right than you are
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 09:00:58
I'm not going to lie, my mission taught me a LOT about self discipline, how to work hard, manage time, deal with people...There are days when you are going to want to strangle your companion...Possibly the only other way I could have learned that was in the Army or something...I think if I had had the attitude that the mormon church didn't have ALL the answers, I would still be in it...trust me, you'll learn they don't, you just have to be open to other truths...
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 08:55:47
As I said, most of my family are still in it...my sibblings who are still active have nice families and nice homes, cars etc...I like their spouses....I get a little bothered by the fact that they are ALL, other than my brother and I, on anti-depressants...it's weird, it's like it became acceptable to be on anti-depressants in the mormon church or something
By: bobhosta. on 02 Dec 08, 08:51:05
Some little things in the BofM..mention of elephants in the Americas is an example. Then it grew into larger questions such as the Book of Abraham..there's a vid the guy mentioned that talks about it, you can scroll down and get the name of it..like I said, if you don't have to lean too heavily on doctrine it's a great religion..I also got drilled pretty hard with it from an early age and so was more eager to prove or disprove it...my parents are really hardcore..have given $50 mil to the church
By: DarthKaiser18. on 02 Dec 08, 08:50:24
No, I just turned 18 about 2 months ago so i still have quite a ways to go yet, but the church is really pushing for missionary work right now, we are actually studying the missionary "Preach my Gospel" book every week in priesthood. My cousin just got called to Ivory Coast Africa and another one of my cousins is suppose to get called soon.
